PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Assist in the efficient management of scheduling, records and data for the Special Education Department at High School
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing
Ability to manage multiple electronic calendars
Understanding of interface between multiple software systems
Experience:
Two years of secretarial/clerical experience
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Maintain Special Education Records
- Receive, review, and process Special Education records and data.
- Make and Receive calls, take reliable messages, answer basic questions, route to appropriate staff, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Schedule ARD meetings for Special Education students and for potential referrals for Special Education evaluation.
- Collate and assemble SPED referral packets including copying of assessment.
- Maintain SPED departmental files, state files, electronic archives, and protect confidential student records.
- Serve as the point of contact for all questions related to student records for any student served by SPED or being considered for SPED.
- Prepare reports related to all files that are a part of different accountability systems.
9.. Maintain a system for hard copy records related to any student served by SPED.
- Monitor the system for tracking movement and accuracy of files.
- Comply with all rules and regulations related to School files.
- Maintain confidentiality.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Personal computer, printer, fax, copier, and laminator.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands:
Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations, communicate effectively (verbal and written), and operate personal computer.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer.
