Copper River Family of Companies is Hiring a Journeyman Heavy Diesel Equipment Mechanic Near Hampton, VA

Copper River Technologies is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Hampton Roads, VA. The candidate will provide vehicle maintenance and repair support services at various locations within the NAVFAC MID-ATLANTIC Area of Responsibility. The Heavy Diesel Mechanic will be performing both corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance at the organizational to intermediate level under the Navy's 3M program.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Capable of working independently on both light and heavy type equipment. Heavy equipment is described as, but not limited to Highly Mobile Multi-Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV's), Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement’s (MTVR's), bulldozers, front end loaders, graders, KALMAR Rough Terrain Cargo Handler (RTCH), buses, and non-propane fueled forklifts (i.e., gasoline and/or diesel powered).
  • Examples of work include, but are not limited to, oil and filter changes, fluid checks and replacement, tire repairs/replacements, brake system checks and component repairs and replacements,
    troubleshooting and repair of various mechanical and electrical equipment components, etc.

Requirements:

  • Skills/Experience:
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Use proper PPE when necessary.
    • Have working level knowledge of the computers that use Microsoft Office Software Suite computer software appropriate to the specific roles and responsibilities performed.
    • Experienced in troubleshooting and repairing heavy and light diesel tracked and wheeled construction equipment, light diesel construction and material handling equipment, hydraulics,
      gasoline internal combustion engines and equipment.
    • Experienced in troubleshooting and repairing all aspects (including electrical aspects) of diesel-powered generators.
