Position Overview:

We are seeking an energetic and nurturing Kindergarten Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning, promoting student independence, incorporating hands-on learning experiences, and infusing joy into the kindergarten curriculum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification for kindergarten.
  • Proven experience in kindergarten education, demonstrating a strong understanding of child development.
  • Familiarity with Finnish education practices and a commitment to integrating them into daily instruction.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Passion for fostering a positive and joy-filled learning environment.

Duties:

  • Promoting Student Independence:
    • Create a supportive and empowering classroom environment that encourages students to take initiative and develop self-confidence.
    • Implement strategies that foster independence in daily tasks, such as self-care and decision-making.
  • Hands-On Learning:
    • Design and implement developmentally appropriate, hands-on activities that engage young learners in exploration and discovery.
    • Integrate play-based learning experiences to enhance social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Instilling Joy in Learning:
    • Create a vibrant and welcoming classroom atmosphere that sparks joy and excitement for learning.
    • Infuse creativity into lessons, making learning a joyful and memorable experience for kindergarten students.
  • Early Literacy and Numeracy Development:
    • Implement a balanced and developmentally appropriate approach to early literacy and numeracy instruction.
    • Foster a love for reading and mathematics through interactive and enjoyable activities.
  • Social-Emotional Development:
    • Prioritize the social-emotional well-being of students, providing a safe and nurturing environment.
    • Implement strategies to develop social skills, emotional intelligence, and positive peer interactions.
  • Parental Engagement:
    • Establish strong communication channels with parents, providing regular updates on student progress and involving them in their child's education.
    • Collaborate with parents to support the transition from home to school.
  • Collaboration and Professional Development:
    • Collaborate with fellow educators and staff to create a cohesive and supportive kindergarten experience.
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood and elementary education.
