Copernicus Academy is Hiring an Administrative Clerk/ Floater Near Austin, TX

Minimum Education Qualifications:

  • Preferred: B.A. or associate in child development or related area
  • Minimum: Associates degree in a Related area
  • _ English /_Spanish language fluent

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in office administration
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in childcare setting
  • This position requires a good organizational skill set including use of computer software, tablet applications, database management, and other office equipment such as printers and scanners.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, tact, flexibility, resourcefulness, and must be discreet, well organized, and a good communicator.

This position is responsible for the following Daily Tasks:

  • Supervise and monitor student attendance.
  • Provide teachers with planning time.
  • Cover for teachers during lunch time.
  • Provides ongoing assistance to all staff.
  • Acts as a substitute for teachers in the case of absences (short-term) or if they arrive late or leave early on any given day.
  • Creates and maintains a positive relationship with families, staff, and our community.
  • Aids with sick or injured children, keeping them in the office until parents arrive.
  • Maintains all child and staff records to minimum standards including updates as needed.
  • Reviews child files and immunization and ensures each file always abides by minimum standards.
  • Answers the telephone and replies to emails.
  • Ensures all buildings are in good operating condition and lets the director know of any improvements needed.
  • Maintains a minimum of 30 clock hours of ongoing early childhood training by the end of each year.
  • Oversees the closing and/or opening procedures.
  • Organizes and orders materials for activities, cleaning, school supplies in general.
  • Ensures opening and/or closing procedures are fulfilled daily.
  • Checks emergency kits at least weekly in classrooms and the playground.
  • Distributes STEM packets, Teaching Strategies Cards, and Lesson plans.
  • Ensures the resource room is organized.
  • Aid teachers in finding materials for the activities in case they can’t find something or are unsure where it is located.
  • Make sure the garden is being taken care of, including watering the plants.
  • Throw away any toys or materials in the playground that are broken.
  • Ensure all staff removes trash from classrooms daily and aids to manage center waste weekly on trash days.
  • Track teacher’s training hours.
  • Collaborate with the Director to check on the book and toys rotation of each classroom.
  • Print last minute announcement signs such as (school closed due to winter storm).
  • Assist in taking the children to their classrooms in the morning, taking their temperature and asking parents if there is anything to report.
  • Distribute messages to teachers from parents during drop off.
  • Assist in translation if or when needed.
  • Assist during drills.
  • Assist when bringing out children at the end of the day when needed.
  • Make sure there is always ice in the freezer for ice packs.
  • Blowing leaves when needed and ensures the school is presentable.
  • Assist the Director to manage Bright Wheel communications.
  • Help maintain office space and ensure it is clean and presentable.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Assist in changing AC and humidifiers’ filters.
  • Maintain and update the outside bulletin board.
  • During fall there will be a lot of collaboration picking up leaves
  • During summer collaboration make sure there is always sunscreen available for the children and teachers. Also, help clean the outdoor water tables at the end of the day
  • Participates in campus events that fall outside of the workweek.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift up to 30 lbs. daily, multiple times.
  • Repetitive bending, stretching, stooping, and sitting.
  • Have mobility required to ensure the safety of the children.
  • Work with children on the floor.
  • Work outdoors in any variety of weather (hot, cold, windy etc.)
  • Fully capable of having visual or hearing capabilities consistent with Child Care Licensing safety requirements.
  • This position may involve possible exposure to blood or body fluids.
  • Regular attendance is required for this position (a total of 97% of the time).
  • Perform some cleaning and other related duties as needed.

Benefits

Full time employees working 40 hours/week and 12 months/yr. are eligible to receive the following benefits. Detailed parameters are listed in the school’s personnel policies and procedures handbook but include Workers’ Compensation; compensation to attend college classes; Paid Time Off and Holiday Pay
