Coperion is Hiring a Project Manager - Engineering Near Sewell, NJ

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes project management procedures, controls, and budgets, and directs implementation of such on projects assigned.
  • Directs project activities to achieve targeted profitability, contract conformance, schedule compliance, and client satisfaction. Manages projects as appropriate.
  • Issues manpower usage, budgets, and project reports for accountability to Coperion Management.
  • Ensures proper execution of purchase orders and subcontracts and related invoices including all change orders with the client, vendors, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Identifies project manpower requirements, obtains, and monitors manpower commitments from departments which are involved with a project (e.g., Business Groups, Central Engineering, Construction, etc.), and guides and monitors manpower usage.
  • Assures efficient and professional interface between customer project personnel and the Coperion team concerning technical design and execution, commercial administration and on schedule performance.
  • Coordinates and presents to Corporate Management budget control reports and cash flow activities with the Corporate Accounting Department and implements specific control reports. Ensure that all personnel report in a consistent manner and in the same format.
  • Conducts his/her work in close relationship with the Director of Sales and discusses all work plans and projects periodically with them.
  • Assists Sales in developing marketing strategies, participates in sales presentations and supports Sales in the design and solicitation of contracts as needed.
  • Review, specify and/or work with vendors to interface process equipment with the Extruder such as upstream feeding equipment and downstream screen changers, melt pumps, pelletizers, drum coolers, cooling belts, Vacuum systems, cooling systems, etc.
  • Interface with a multitude of vendors and sub-suppliers to spec and purchase components to complete projects.
  • Review and approve drawings and photos of vender equipment prior to releasing for shipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical elementary diagrams, interconnects and schematic to ensure functionality with Coperion control systems.
  • Specify design criteria for mechanical transition parts (Hoppers, 8-0's, etc.)
  • Interface with multiple control systems to ensure equipment communications are performing properly
  • Ensure system designs meet any customer specific specification.
  • Oversee and check CAD Designers
  • Performs other related duties assigned by proper authority.
  • Performs all the duties of the project manager when running a project

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in the design, procurement, and installation of process systems
  • Ability to lead and manage projects, and effectively interface with clients and cross functionally with Coperion in-house departments
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of manpower planning and budget controls, and construction planning and methods
  • Ability to deliver projects with restrictive schedules and budgets
  • Understanding of construction codes and union restrictions
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID's and electrical schematics
  • Willingness to learn new products and advance the knowledge base on relevant equipment
  • Proficiency in MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or other relevant Engineering Degree
  • ERP Software experience preferred - QAD or SAP is a PLUS
  • Experience in CAD software is a PLUS
