CooperCompanies is Hiring a Biofinity Technician - Day Shift Near Scottsville, NY

Job Summary:

Provide training on lathes and automated manufacturing equipment according to current Standard Operating Procedure and provide technical production support services. Responsible for processes critical to the quality of the product and the impact quality can have on the end user. The ability to troubleshoot equipment problems. Use and operation of metrology and inspection equipment to obtain results of process. Use, operation and train on metrology and inspection equipment to obtain results of process.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

  1. Machine set-up, calibration, adjustments, installations and work-In-progress inspection.
  2. Regularly set up production and technical equipment in the production line and checks for continued adherence to standards of tolerance and product quality.
  3. Regularly checks work samples to assure proper machine results and to make adjustments, modifications or part replacements.
  4. Regularly inspects parts to assure proper machine results and makes any necessary adjustments or modifications according to procedure.
  5. Perform equipment cleaning duties as necessary.
  6. Maintain regular surveillance overall production Operations involving equipment, answers questions and may demonstrate use of machinery.
  7. As directed, trouble shoots problems and makes equipment adjustments, changes or recommendations to the Supervisor.
  8. Perform other technical or support services related to production as directed.
  9. May evaluate new or prototype equipment relative to production.
  10. Sometimes substitutes for production employees.
  11. Maintain records and information according to procedure. 
  12. In the absence of the Coordinator, will oversee the department.
  13. Maintain training records and administer technician’s recertification program including annual training, according to the training certification procedure.
  14. Act as a first line of defense in trouble shooting lathing issues prior to contacting maintenance.
  15. Train technicians on production equipment according to SOP’s.
  16. May evaluate new or prototype equipment relative to production.
  17. Train technicians in proper measuring techniques on various equipment.
  18. As business needs dictate, works extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks to include mandatory overtime.
  19. Performs other duties as needed/assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Exhibits good communication skills – verbal, written, and comprehension of the English language.
  • Adhered to Standard Operating Procedures and Regulatory requirements.
  • Can work well in a team environment.
  • Computer skills, proficient in Windows and DOS.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and government regulatory officials.
  • Sound foundation in mechanical principles.
  • Required to read and understand Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs). 
  • Works in a team manufacturing environment receiving direction from Coordinators and or Production Supervisors. 
  • Demonstrates qualities which show interest and competency level for future advancement.
  • Requires full understanding of Food & Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), and the consequences of not following them.

Work Environment:

  • Works scheduled holidays in order to maintain service levels for customers.
  • As business needs dictates, works extended hours to complete daily shipments.

    • Hand/eye coordination >75%

Experience:

  • Minimum of one-year experience as a lathing technician or comparable experience with automated manufacturing equipment.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the pay range for this position is between $23 - $26 per hour. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
