GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, configuring, and deploying a broad range of critical multi-platform IT infrastructure, involving networking, storage, backup/recovery, security and virtualization technologies. They will be responsible for providing operational support and ongoing improvement of our IT infrastructure inclusive of related incident/ problem management implementation of changes, monitoring, and patch/vulnerability management. The position includes serving as a technical subject matter expert to other functional teams, and will lead the technical solution delivery of infrastructure related projects/improvements.

 WHAT YOU'LL DO: 

  • Partner with application developers, and other technical peers to create scalable multi-platform infrastructure solutions with understanding of functional dependencies and business impact.
  • Coordinate and execute projects associated with the design, installation, configuration and deployment of multi-platform systems (cloud and on-premise), virtualization, firewall/VPN, backup/recovery, storage, and wifi technologies.
  • Contribute to and support disaster recovery activities and planning, inclusive of testing and documenting recovery scripts and procedures.
  • Develop and administer backup systems to recover data.
  • Maintain servers’ OS updates and current patches.
  • Maintain network security in accordance with established protocols.
  • Perform daily provisioning configuration changes. 
  • Monitor data center operations and identify potential issues, provide operational guidance and take actions to correct issues.
  • Participate in and represent IT Operations in the Change Management process.
  • Participate in network capacity measurement and planning, assist with detailed technical planning for future initiatives.
  • Resolve incidents escalated from the Service Desk.
  • Provide evaluation of new systems technologies.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex problems involving servers, network infrastructure, storage, switches, backup/recovery and disaster recovery.
  • Adding, removing and changing server infrastructure as necessary to meet the demands of the business. 
  • Maintain security and monitoring tools to provide first line of security configurations and proactive security expertise for our network.
  • Learn new IT platform technologies and features as needed to meet changing business requirements.
  • Assist other team members with hardware upgrades, configuration changes, and maintenance as needed.
  • Participate in rotating on-call after hour/weekend operations support coverage

 WHO YOU ARE: 

  • Demonstrated engineering experience with virtualization (e.g VMware), backup/recovery/business continuity, patch/vulnerability management, and cloud-based platform management technologies and operational duties in a production setting. 
  • Good understanding of storage network environments to include topology as well as performance characteristics.
  • Experience with core system administration (e.g. patch management, OS layer, security, backup, restore, monitoring, and maintenance).
  • Experience with enterprise networks (WAN/LAN), VLAN, and public cloud networks.
  • Familiarity with firewalls, Exchange/0365 administration, VDI, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, AWS, or Azure platforms is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based network configurations and workloads is a plus. 
  • Proficient in MS Power Point or Visio to transform technical information into concise and clear presentations.
  • Experience in technical solution delivery for small to medium size initiatives.
  • Experience with IT Change Management tools and Help Desk processes, ITIL a plus.
  • Strong time and priority management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to interface at various levels of corporate positions and management.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED: 

  • Work History Requirements:
    • Requires minimum 3 - 5 years of progressive network engineering experience 
    • Prior experience in the definition, design, development, delivery, and support of the IT Infrastructure of a large scale business with emphasis on networking, storage, and security.
  • Education Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a related field
