Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurants is Hiring a Remote Copywriter

Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants is seeking an exceptional wordsmith and creative Copywriter to play a vital role within our dynamic and innovative Marketing team. Cooper’s Hawk is a trailblazing combination of restaurant, winery, Napa-style tasting room, and specialty retail market. Additionally, Cooper’s Hawk is home to the country’s largest Wine Club, a lifestyle-driven monthly affiliation offering exclusive wines, unforgettable events, and a host of privileges. In addition to nearly 60 restaurant locations, Cooper’s Hawk has recently introduced Piccolo Buco, a contemporary Neapolitan pizza concept, nestled under the “by Cooper’s Hawk” Brand umbrella.

More than an award-winning hospitality concept and wine producer—we’re curators of extraordinary moments. As the Copywriter and Brand Storyteller, you will be central to this endeavor, breathing life into captivating campaigns and narratives that will define and humanize the Brand. As guardian of Brand tone and voice, your words and creativity will resonate across all channels. The position offers a hybrid remote work arrangement with three weekly onsite days at the Restaurant Support Center located in Downers Grove, IL and reports to the Senior Director of Marketing.

What You’ll Do:

  • Write creative, clean, and error-free copy for a variety of media including print, email, and web:
    • Creative Campaigns
      • Contribute innovative ideas to brainstorming sessions and write persuasive and impactful headers and supporting copy for multiple platforms
    • Collateral Material
      • Craft compelling content for easels, brochures, product descriptions, newsletters, and other collateral
    • Email Campaigns
      • Develop captivating email subject lines and body copy that resonates with our target audience, driving engagement, click-throughs, and conversions
    • Product Names and Romance Copy
      • Create alluring and authentic narratives that enhance wine label or retail product appeal
    • Social support
      • Help in developing content that entices social engagement and followership
    • Editing and Proofreading
      • Review and edit content to eliminate errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation
    • Be an expert in Cooper’s Hawk content marketing strategy, brand guidelines, and tone of voice across all Cooper’s Hawk brands
    • Create compelling copy that drives behavior, e.g. persuasive variable copy based on Wine Club Member type or persona
    • Proven aptitude for quick creative thinking with attention to detail
    • Ensure copy is well-researched, accurate, and delivered within demanding deadlines
    • Participate in brainstorm sessions for creative projects and collaborate with teams to develop engaging and effective marketing campaigns and assets
    • Serve as strategic advisor in helping clarify business objectives, understand audiences, define key messages and goals
    • Partner with legal team to vet potential creative wine name viability and trademarking
    • Support PR team with team bios, company descriptions, and product descriptions, as needed
    • Partner effectively with key stakeholder groups and internal departments across the company to accomplish goals

    What You’ll Need:

    • Must represent Cooper’s Hawk values
    • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism or related field
    • At least 3 years’ experience in advertising/marketing agency or in-house marketing department
    • Basic understanding of SEO keyword usage
    • Superb writing skills and strong grammarian
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and manage an ever-changing and fast-paced workload
    • Desire and flexibility to assume the roles of individual contributor, team player and leader simultaneously as the organization evolves
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Google Docs)
    • Experience working with wine, hospitality, retail, lifestyle brand and/or e-commerce a plus
