Job Brief:

Electrical Estimators are needed to evaluate electrical projects and determine the costs as well as the complexity of the project to make an informed opinion about accepting the job. Control Tech needs Electrical Estimators to compile data such as material costs, labour costs and overhead to estimate the total cost of each product.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Determining the amount, type, and cost of materials needed for each electrical project.
  • Determining the amount of labor required to complete each project.
  • Determining the potential profitability of electrical projects to assist management in making sound bidding decisions.
  • Providing viable solutions to increase project profitability.
  • Completing and submitting competitive project bids in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Regularly updating cost databases to accurately reflect fluctuating material and labor costs.
  • Evaluating labor and material costs to determine whether it is more feasible to construct electrical components or sub-contract the construction of components.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • The ability to interpret GA, PID, 3D models and cable schedules.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience bidding projects in excess of $2.5 million
  • Previous experience with Lump Sum & Unit Rate estimates.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Detail-oriented.

Qualifications:

  • Certification through the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) or the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) International is advantageous.
  • Accubid experience an asset
  • Minimum 5 years as an electrical estimator
  • Previous experience as an electrician or in this industry
  • Ability to provide highly accurate estimates for a wide variety of electrical projects.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of services.
  • Red Seal Journeyman ticket in Electrical is a considerable asset.
  • Valid Driver s License
  • Clean Criminal Record
  • Ability to pass a Substance and Alcohol Test.

Education:

  • Completion of a postsecondary education electrician training program.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction science, engineering, construction management, or related field is considered and asset.
