Music Teacher for Contra Costa Christian Schools

Job Summary:

The Music Teacher is focused on delivering instruction and assessing student learning based on high-quality unit plans, primarily in Elementary Classrooms. The Music Teacher plays a central role in the success of Contra Costa Christian Schools in Elementary theory, vocalization, harmonizing, choral and instrumental music. The Music Teacher’s responsibilities also include the following:

High-Quality Instruction

  • Deliver instruction and assess student learning based on high-quality unit plans designs that incorporate faith, are aligned with CCCS yearly goals and student outcomes
  • Establish and maintain a respectful culture of learning in a well-managed classroom that inspires students to learn and appreciate music
  • Engage and assess student learning through the delivery of daily lessons

Professional Excellence

  • Reflect on personal teaching practice in order to develop and grow professionally
  • Maintain accurate, timely records of instructional and non-instructional events
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and professional development
  • Maintain professional relationship with colleagues and work together for improved instruction and student success

Community Driven

  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement and support all school activities, including spirit weeks, field trips and chapels, especially in the Elementary School
  • Build and maintain community relationships with students and families

Mission-Alignment

  • Commitment to and support of CCCS mission, vision and values
  • Commitment to abide by the CCCS Employee Handbook

Additional Responsibilities

  • Rehearse and coordinate December concert and May concert
  • Occasional weekend and evening responsibilities

Type of Position: 

This is a Regular Part-Time Teacher/Salaried position, Classification C in the CCCS Employee Handbook.

Required Personal Qualities:

  • Personal testimony of Christian faith
  • Sign and support the school’s Statement of Faith
  • Strong organizational skills; careful attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Strong communication and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Exceptional ability to bridge and enhance cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; flexible, able to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed.

Salary ranges from $25,000 - $35,000 and is dependent upon experience and certifications.

Requirements

Required Professional Qualities:

  • Hold a State/ACSI Certification or will participate in a program to complete the requirements for certification within a specified time period.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field or will participate in a program to complete such a degree within a specified time period
  • Demonstrate a competent level of computer literacy. Basic proficiency is needed in word processing, e-mailing, and accessing the Internet.
  • Possess evidence of other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the Head of School.
