Job Description: Terminal Manager

Location: Baltimore, MD

Established in 2006 Continuum Transportation is a leading and well-established intermodal and drayage trucking company, dedicated to providing safe, efficient, and reliable transportation services. With a strong commitment to our people, customers, and fleet, we have built a reputation for excellence in the industry. We are now seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as the Terminal Manager in Baltimore, MD.

The Terminal Manager plays a critical role in the efficient operation of the trucking terminal. Their primary responsibility is to oversee all aspects of terminal operations to ensure both customer and driver satisfaction. This includes making sure all loads are dispatched effectively and on time, while maintaining a high level of safety and adhering to all company core values.

**Key Responsibilities: **

1. **Operations Management: ** Supervise and coordinate all activities within the trucking terminal, scheduling loads, people management and truck count growth

2. **Safety Compliance: ** Ensure that all safety regulations and protocols are followed, including those related to, equipment maintenance, and workplace safety. A strong knowledge of D.O.T. and FMSCA regulations is required.

3. **Personnel Management: ** Recruit, train, and supervise terminal staff, including drivers, operations team, and administrative personnel. Monitor employee performance and address any performance or conduct issues.

5. **Customer Service: ** Maintain good relationships with customers, addressing their inquiries, concerns, and special requests. Ensure that shipments are delivered on time and in good condition.

6. **Budgeting and Cost Control: ** Develop and manage budgets for terminal operations, including expenses related to labor, maintenance, and equipment. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce operational expenses.

8. **Compliance and Documentation: ** Ensure that all documentation, such as bills of lading, shipping manifests, and customs paperwork, is accurate and up to date. Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations related to trucking and transportation.

10. **Performance Metrics:** Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time deliveries, driver utilization, and safety records. Use data analysis to identify areas for improvement.

**Qualifications and Skills:**

- **Experience:** Prior experience in transportation or logistics, including a few years in a supervisory or managerial role, is usually required.

- **Communication:** Strong communication skills are essential for dealing with employees, customers, and external partners.

- **Problem-Solving:** The ability to quickly address and resolve operational issues is crucial.

- **Organizational Skills:** Terminal managers must juggle multiple tasks, so good organizational skills are a must.

- **Knowledge of Regulations:** Familiarity with federal and state regulations governing the transportation industry is important for compliance.

- **Computer Skills:** Proficiency in using logistics and inventory management software is an advantage.

- **Leadership:** Effective leadership skills are necessary to motivate and manage a team.
