ConTeras Industrial Group is Hiring a Region Safety Manager Near Gastonia, NC

Incorp Industries is currently seeking a Regional EHS Manager to be based out of our Gastonia, NC office. Incorp Industries provides scaffold, industrial insulation, sheet metal, asbestos abatement, industrial lead removal, abrasive blasting, and coatings services to industrial contractors and owner clients in the power generation, petrochemical, grain, pulp and paper, mining, and manufacturing industries. 

The Regional EHS Manager is responsible for day-to-day oversight and EHS implementation including, but not limited to safety education/training, execution and auditing of safe work procedures, coordination of incident investigations, execution of injury prevention plans, safety goals and objectives, pre-project planning, EHS audits/inspections, safety/security on projects, contractor safety, communications and reporting as required to management, clients, and agencies. Collaborate with the Safety Director to implement programs/processes that will help reduce incidents and create a zero-injury safety culture. Additional general responsibilities include ensuring compliance with local, state, federal and corporate regulations, and procedures. This position reports directly to the Safety Director and must work collaboratively with site leadership, employees, and outside EHS professionals to effectively identify and deliver innovative EHS solutions aligned with the needs of the business. 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the ongoing implementation of Incorp’s Written EHS Program. 
  • Provides strong positive leadership that motivates and engages leadership and field employees in EHS initiatives.
  • Leads weekly regional safety meetings and provides guidance to the regional teams.
  • Analyzes safety data and recommends initiatives to address negative trends.
  • Assist with curriculum development, training objectives, process improvements, and SOP updates. 
  • Prepare educational seminars and webinars.
  • Conduct safety and compliance training and mentoring of craft employees related to jobsite EHS hazards, and methods of reducing and/or eliminating workplace hazards.
  • Coordinate new employee orientation and support existing employees’ continuing education needs.
  • Mentor and provide steward leadership for employees.
  • Communicate with management, safety staff, and employees to keep each jobsite up to date and current regarding changes in safety regulations and programs.
  • Facilitate relationships with local regulatory personnel and agencies, provide compliance information, and respond to any concerns they may have.
  • Investigate and evaluate all injuries, illnesses, property damage, environmental, and near miss/hit incidents for lessons learned and corrective actions. 
  • Proactive injury management.
  • Act as technical EHS resource for Incorp employees and clients.
  • Review new projects with project management and site supervision to establish policies and processes to protect employees, contractors, visitors, and physical assets. 
  • Ensure project level compliance with all Incorp, client, federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Modify existing processes and procedures to meet client requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct work area surveillance inspections and control hazardous working conditions or unsafe activities. Maintain detailed documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years progressive experience working in construction environmental health and safety. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA Construction, OSHA General Industry, EPA, DOT, MSHA, and ANSI standards.
  • Must have demonstrated written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills along with ability to influence/ persuade others and manage conflicts.
  • Self-starter, ambitious attitude with solutions minded approach to problem solving.
  • Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety.
  • High level of flexibility, integrity, and honesty.
  • The ability to drive a personal or company supplied vehicle for work related travel; must possess a valid driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be able to interact with employees at all levels of the organization as well as contractors and suppliers.

Preferred Certifications/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, health, engineering, or related discipline preferred and/or, CSP, CHST, and related certifications.
  • Strong technical writing skills

  • Abrasive Blasting and Coatings 
  • Mobile Equipment 
  • HAZWOPER
  • Scaffold Experience
  • OSHA 500 and OSHA 510
  • First Aid/CPR/AED

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • This position requires visits to a variety of workplaces. May be exposed to seasonal weather conditions, extreme heat and cold, dust, nauseating smells, noise, mechanical vibrations, and work at height. 
  • Requires exposure to hazardous equipment, conditions, chemicals, and general industrial construction hazards.
  • Work is also performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Ability to drive for extended periods of time.
  • Essential physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, or stooping, and ability to work at heights.
