Job SummaryMaintains paving equipment operation by completing inspections and preventative maintenance requirements, conducts repairs as needed, making adjustments and alignments, and keeping records.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAbide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Determines equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests and identifying worn and damages parts.
Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades and controlling corrosion.
Performs all work in accordance with schedules, policies, procedures and standards of quality and safety.
Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts or systems.
Maintains equipment records by annotating services and repairs.
Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs.
Overhauls gas and diesel engines and other major power train components utilizing the latest technical information.
Assists in moving of the paving equipment and conducts proper machine setup and paver width changes as needed. Operates and run equipment as requested.
Shop tools are provided by company. Employee must provide a full general toolbox with some special tools.
Must continue to update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical journals and regulation publications.
Enhances maintenance department and organization by reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Maintains and assures cleanliness and neatness. Assures safety standards are met.
Other duties may be assigned.

Work EnvironmentThe employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
Would occasionally climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; able to talk, hear, taste and smell.
Must be able to use up to 35 pounds of force occasionally.
The employee is occasionally required to sit.
Direct frontal reaching is required while the employee may be required to lift 5 pounds over the head occasionally, must also be able to lift up to 10 pounds to waist height.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Employees are required to wear protective safety gear and eye protection.
The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and possible extreme heat.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees are required to wear protective ear protection.
There are some chemical exposures that are part of performing the job.
SDS sheets are available in the department.
This is a tobacco free campus and facility.
