Full job description

Seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to work in a small General Contracting firm specializing in Design-Build projects, light industrial, interior renovation / fit-outs, exterior renovations and additions among other various scopes of work in the construction field. This role is responsible for securing profitable work through comprehensive estimates and superior customer service, while effectively utilizing and contributing to the team’s success. This role will either directly or indirectly through supportive staff have the following duties:

• Perform quantity take-offs to prepare detailed estimates in accordance with drawings and specifications
• Review Invitation to Bid (ITB) for qualification of scope
• Interpret architectural drawings and specifications to determine project requirements
• Maintain computer databases (pricing, estimates, items, etc.)
• Approve/process all over-budget purchase orders
• Assist with maintaining take-offs, item cost, and contract pricing
• Assist in cost negotiations
• Field phone calls from potential new vendors as well as field staff
• Obtain vendor quotes
• Strong working knowledge of commercial construction methods, processes and management practices
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Efficient & responsive to the needs of internal and external clients alike
• Manage estimating process and timelines to meet company objectives both short and long term
• Communicate with customers to define the project scope, address deficiencies, negotiate pricing, and build relationships
• Continuously follow up on all bid projects and accurately forecast future awards / probabilities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
• Extremely detail-oriented and well-organized

• Ability to work overtime

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least five (5) or more years of relevant construction estimating experience in commercial construction
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with Autocad, Bluebeam ReVu and Sketch-up program
• Ability to multi-task
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be organized, detail-oriented and efficient
• Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form
• Able to provide a high level of customer service
• Integrity, accountability, teamwork, innovation and continued growth.
• Must have a vehicle and valid driver’s license
• Must visit site to verify existing field conditions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor in Construction Project Management and/or estimating a plus
