 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or ability to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in journalism,communications, marketing, or a related field or 10 years executive level business administration experience.
  • Experience in marketing/advertising, print operations, publications management, website management, digital communication is preferred.
  • Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) or equivalent professional certification preferred.

 JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Develops, manages, implements and evaluates a communications strategic plan in a manner consistent with the district’s strategic roadmap.
  • Develops, standardizes and manages the district’s technological communication vehicles and protocols to further strengthen its image and marketing/branding initiatives.
  • Evaluates public attitudes, links district policies and procedures with public interest, communicates programs and initiatives to the community, and executes a program of action to deepen the community trust and partnership with the use of current trends and innovations.
  • Works in cooperation with district leadership in the planning, preparing, formatting, publishing and dissemination of district reports and other communications.
  • Design and produce district print and digital publications and e-publications such as informational brochures, newsletters, postcards, flyers and invitations.
  • Manages internal communication vehicles and technology tools for access by all staff.
  • Leads communications during crises and other serious incidents for the purpose of providing accurate and timely information.
  • Targets outreach to actively engage with diverse populations throughout our community.
  • Develops concepts, writes scripts, secures photos, and supervises the production of multimedia presentations for special events, marketing, or other promotional events.
  • Serves as a liaison between the district and media representatives, community organizations and the public for the purpose of conveying information, publicizing events, and enhancing the relationship between the district and the community.
  • Develops and implements marketing/branding plans for the district.
  • Aides Business Manager in developing a communications budget.
  • Administer the communications budget and ensure that programs are cost effective and that funds are managed prudently.
  • Increase the internal assets of the organization by providing training for employees and volunteers to strengthen their skills in communication techniques, professional tools, and resources.
  • Recruits, trains, and supports volunteers needed for communications activities.
  • Proactively seek new ways to recognize students, staff, and volunteers.
  • Visit school sites regularly to monitor effectiveness of communication and public relations efforts and maintain positive relations with campus administration and staff.
  • Participates in state and national public relations associations to ensure CPS stays abreast of school public relations issues and best practice.
  • Attend Board meetings and make presentations as required.
  • Maintains historical files of CPS media coverage.
  • Maintains confidentiality of materials and information.
  • Professionally represent the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.
  • Maintain regular attendance; adhere to district practice regarding attendance and leaves of absence. 
  • Maintains a master editorial calendar of information about District activities, programs, initiatives, and events open to the public.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Superintendent. 

SALARY/BENEFITS: Commensurate with experience/Comprehensive Benefit Package

DAYS/HOURS: Full Time/260 days
