Press Operator

Where You Will Work

Consolidated Aerospace Manufacturing (CAM) is the primary division of Stanley Black & Decker Aerospace. We are a leading innovator and strategic partner in the manufacturing of fasteners, fittings, and engineered products for the aerospace, defense, and industrial markets. CAM is currently comprised of nine subsidiaries across the United States split among three segments.

Summary

The Press Operator maximizes efficiency through the process of operations of various automatic press machines for the manufacture of all types of parts for new or revised products, with the versatility to learn accessory equipment as necessary to complete workorders. Works in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Operates large or small press machines like: Komatsu, Maypress, Seyi, Bliss, Denison, and similar/accessory equipment ranging from 30-600 tons, to produce machined parts according to blueprints, router package specifications and/or special instructions.
  • Understands and uses drawings, manuals, and work instructions to validate dimensions and tolerances of finished work-piece, sequence of operations, and requirements.
  • Starts and observes on-going machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining
  • Verifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications.
  • Follows established machine settings and first article trials to ensure conformity with process specifications.
  • Inspects parts for quality and appropriate tolerance using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and comparators.
  • Works within established feed and speed combinations to meet performance standards
  • Records the piece count and run time of the production times.
  • Verify dimensions and alignment of assemblies
  • Recognizes minor machine malfunctioning or cutting action of tools, and reports major discrepancies to lead or supervisor.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Working experience of manufacturing environment.
  • A minimum of 0-3 years related industrial machine shop experience or equivalent combination of education and high performance experience.
