Conservatory Lab Charter is Hiring a SY 23-24 Instruction and Pedagogy Specialist Near Boston, MA

Conservatory Lab Charter School empowers a diverse range of children in preschool through eighth grade as scholars, artists, and leaders through a unique and rigorous academic and music education. We enrich the larger community through performance, service, and collaboration. As a laboratory school, we develop and disseminate innovative educational approaches that will positively impact children in other schools and programs.
The instruction and pedagogy specialist will work with teachers and support staff from preschool to grade eight. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both teaching and learning, as well as adult learning. A strong working knowledge of the neuroscience of learning, as well as research-supported practices in literacy, mathematics, science and social studies is preferred. For any of those areas that are not areas of strength, the Instruction and Pedagogy Specialist should be self-driven to deepen their expertise in service of effectively working with teachers of all ages and content areas. A deep knowledge of instructional strategies to support diverse learners, as well as the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework is necessary to guide others’ learning. The instruction and pedagogy specialist will spend a majority of time observing in classrooms and crafting/delivering meaningful feedback to improve instruction. They should use data, both quantitative and anecdotal, to guide decision making and support teacher development.
The instruction and pedagogy specialist will improve teacher practice through direct coaching and delivery of professional development to support core curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessments, across the upper and lower campus. The coordinator of professional learning will observe and provide feedback to individual teachers. In addition, the ideal candidate will collaborate with the academic leadership team to develop and implement a cohesive vision of teaching and learning.
Responsibilities:
  • Support teachers in the implementation of effective instructional practices to improve student outcomes
  • Use multiple assessment sources to present school data to guide academic decision making, instructional priorities and professional development priorities
  • Support implementation and differentiation of core curriculum
  • Develop and provide professional development for teams to support the improvement of core instruction and implementation of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
  • Facilitate teacher and principal teams to analyze data, identify strengths, and areas of challenge, and to craft action plans based on this analysis
  • Coordinate professional development to support effective instruction
  • Collaborate with staff and leadership from upper and lower campuses to develop year long scope and sequence for professional development
  • Support introduction and implementation of UDL principles
  • Support development and implementation of response to intervention plan (RTI)
  • Support analysis of student data
Skills and competencies:
  • Strong working knowledge of the neuroscience of learning, as well as research-supported practices in literacy, mathematics, science and social studies AND/OR active growth mindset around bolstering own knowledge base
  • Ability to critically organize time to maximize contact with multiple groups of teachers and/or schools
  • Demonstrated ability to provide critical feedback in an effective manner
  • Demonstrated ability to create and disseminate instructional tools for teachers and build professional development modules for different audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to guide instruction
Qualifications:
  • 8 years of teaching experience
  • 2 years administrative experience
