School Summary

Indiana Connections Career Academy (INCC) is a tuition-free, virtual public school for students in grades 6-12 throughout Indiana. INCC was developed with a strong focus on career readiness, and CTE offerings, and offers students programs of study in one of six in-demand career pathways. INCC is authorized by Ball State University and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school is operated by Indiana Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Indiana, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by AdvancED.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Indiana Connections Schools seeks a qualified and dedicated part-time school nurse. Under direct supervision of the Executive Director, the school nurse will provide appropriate health/medical services to students and create a climate of health and well-being at Indiana Connections Schools.

Some travel may be required.

• Serves as a part-time school nurse for Indiana Connections Career Academy and Indiana Connections Academy;
• Provides health services, including first aid and CPR training, according to established procedures;
• Provides guidance and counseling in the area of health to students, staff, and parents according to professional standards;
• Maintains a sound knowledge base in nursing and school nursing procedures and protocols and implements these skills as required;
• Provides training and professional development regarding health-related issues for school staff members as needed;
• Serves as a liaison between school staff, parents, community health practitioners, and health agencies to obtain and interpret health information pertinent to educational planning to enhance the educational process and promote optimal level of wellness and functioning for students with health conditions and needs;
• Uphold's immunization records compliance with the state
• Ensures all student immunization records are updated and recorded.
• Create Individual Health Plans for referred students
• Analyze Individual Health Plans for students with specific accommodations and

Qualifications

• License – must hold RN-BSN
• Language skills - ability to understand and communicate with both verbal and written skills. Ability to be easily understood when addressing parents, students, staff, and visitors.
• Reasoning skills – the ability to apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral forms. Ability to ascertain which people need immediate assistance and to act accordingly. Ability to prioritize and multi-task. Ability to work independently.

Computer skills - the ability to learn the operation of office machines, computers, emails, and use of the internet.
