Job Summary:

As a Companion, you will play a pivotal role in providing support and guidance to individuals in enhancing their daily living skills, fostering independence, and promoting social integration. Your primary responsibility will be to accompany and assist individuals in various activities aimed at improving their quality of life and facilitating personal growth.

Responsibilities:

• Companion Assistance: Provide non-medical care, supervision, and socialization activities to adults in alignment with their support plans and goals. Assist individuals in achieving specific outcomes or goals outlined in their plans.
• Self-Care Assistance: Assist recipients with self-care needs as necessary, including tasks such as meal preparation, laundry, and shopping. These activities should be integrated into the overall care and supervision provided, rather than performed as discrete services.
• Light Housekeeping: Perform light housekeeping tasks as necessary and incidental to the care and supervision of the recipient. These tasks should support the overall well-being and comfort of the individual.
• Community Engagement: Facilitate access to community-based activities that contribute to the recipient's development and independence. Plan and accompany individuals to activities such as volunteer work, library visits, grocery shopping, or volunteering at local organizations.
• Goal-Oriented Activities: Ensure that companion activities are related to specific outcomes or goals identified in the recipient's support plan. Examples include pre-work activities, educational outings, and volunteer opportunities that promote personal growth and skill development.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of activities, progress, and any observations relevant to the recipient's development. Document the achievement of goals and outcomes as outlined in the support plan.

- Assist with daily activities, including meal preparation and medication administration

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in social services, psychology, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience providing support services to adults, preferably in a community-based or home setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with diverse individuals.
• Understanding of non-medical care principles and best practices in supporting individuals with disabilities or special needs.
• Ability to follow individual support plans and adapt activities to meet the unique needs and preferences of each recipient.
• Knowledge of community resources and activities that promote socialization and independence.
• Basic understanding of light housekeeping tasks and the ability to perform them as needed.
• Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Valid Florida driver's license, registration and proof of insurance. (Reliable personal transportation is required)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 42 per week
