1. S/he will perform the physicals on the patients admitted to the programs or delegate to other qualified medical professionals. S/he will interpret the results of examinations and test results and decide on the medical suitability of applicants for admission.
2. S/he interviews patients, reviews assessment data and utilizes clinical judgment to make an appropriate diagnosis.
3. S/he interviews patients in order to diagnose, prescribe, and monitor medications for addictive disorders as needed.
4. S/he will write medication orders for each patient and determine the dosage at all stages of treatment.
5. S/he will be attentive to patients experiencing reactions to methadone by instructing nurses to report any questionable symptoms they may notice in the patient.
6. S/he will prescribe remedies for common ailments of the patients; especially those connected with the ingestion of methadone. Patients will be referred to their family physician or the Hospital for more serious illnesses.
7. S/he will attend screenings of new patients whenever possible.
8. S/he will participate in formulating medical policy and procedures, and in making medical decisions.
9. S/he will supervise the Head Nurse regarding all medical policies and procedures.
10. S/he will be responsible for compliance with medical requirements of federal and state regulations and Connecticut Counseling Centers, Inc. Medical Policies and Procedures plus ensure that s/he conforms to CARF standards applicable to services provided
11. S/he will determine whether or not an applicant shall be considered a medical emergency for admission.
12. S/he will engage in Medical Peer Review following Policies and Procedures.
13. S/he is available by telephone for emergency consultation.
14. S/he will maintain a current CT Physician/Surgeon license and current Federal and State DEA licenses at all times and will submit documentation of the same in a timely manner for inclusion in the personnel file within two (2) weeks of expiration.
15. S/he has the knowledge and skills required to provide services to adult patients.
16. S/he develops a positive therapeutic working relationship with patients including modifying interventions to meet the values and expectations of the patients.
17. S/he will perform additional duties as assigned.
