Job DescriptionJob Title: School-based Occupational Therapist Location: Yuma, Arizona Duration: Remainder of Current School Year and Next Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Occupational Therapist to join our school district in Yuma, AZ, for the remainder of the current school year and the entire next school year. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students, a strong understanding of occupational therapy principles, and the ability to collaborate with educational professionals to support the diverse needs of our student population. Responsibilities
Conduct assessments to determine students' motor skills, sensory processing, and functional capabilities.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address students' identified occupational therapy needs.
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to integrate occupational therapy goals into the students' overall educational plans.
Provide direct and consultative services to students, including therapeutic interventions, adaptive equipment recommendations, and environmental modifications.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, assessments, and therapy plans.
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, school staff, and other relevant stakeholders regarding students' occupational therapy needs and progress.
Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to contribute expertise and recommendations for students with occupational therapy goals.
Stay current on best practices, research, and trends in occupational therapy and special education.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Current Arizona state licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
Previous experience working in a school setting is preferred.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Understanding of federal and state regulations related to special education and occupational therapy services in schools.
