Congregation of St. Joseph is Hiring an Urgently Hiring** Life Enrichment Coordinator Near La Grange, IL

In light of the CSJ Mission, Charism, Generous Promises and Our Sacred Work, the Life Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for planning & implementing the activities and programs designed to encourage & stimulate residents to have fuller & richer lives. Under the direction of the Center Administrator and working in conjunction with the Center Director of Nursing and the Coordinator of Community Life, the Life Enrichment Coordinator will be responsible for planning and producing a wide variety of activities and programs i.e. speakers, outings, shopping, and other various social and enrichment activities. This position will be responsible for coordinating the transportation and/or driving the residents to and from off campus activities and programs, utilizing Congregational vehicles. This position puts customer service first; ensures that the residents receive the highest quality of service in a dignified, caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights and is in conjunction with relationship centered living.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans and organizes activities and programs including, but not limited to games, parties, music, arts and crafts, field trips, therapeutic exercise, entertainment, educational programs, spiritual programs and social gatherings.
  • Provides opportunities for recreation, self-maintenance and social and interpersonal relationships.
  • Maintains relationships with residents and outside groups and/or individuals to provide an opportunity to share ideas and suggestions for ongoing activities.
  • Using Congregational vehicles, transports residents to and from off campus activities; coordinating transportations with Center Director of Nursing.
  • Demonstrates ability to work within a budget to assist with purchasing of program supplies and organizing inventory.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & LEADERSHIP

  • Manages and operates a comprehensive, multi-faceted lifelong learning program that identifies existing, emerging and future needs of the residents.
  • Develops, coordinates and evaluates leisure, educational enrichment, nutritional, exercise and recreational programs.
  • Creates and implements programs and services to meet those needs in a collaborative model.
  • Provides Administrator with necessary information and communications regarding program area development and operations on an on-going and timely basis.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrates ability to be create, implement and lead a variety of modalities, including arts and crafts, drama, music, dance, games and community outings.
  • Demonstrates ability to be enthusiastic and able to communicate and interact effectively with geriatric residents, including those with memory impairment. Uses good judgement by making responsible choices and decisions while acting in the resident’s best interest.
  • Possess strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills handling multiples priorities simultaneously.
  • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication.
  • Ability to work semi-independently without direct supervision by following community procedures and guidelines and have the ability to follow through on assigned tasks.
  • Strong computer literacy; Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Demonstrates ability to be flexible to work nights and weekends when appropriate.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Nurse Aide Certification preferred.
  • Completion in certificate or coursework in Recreational Therapy and/or specialty courses certified locally and nationally; must meet state requirements.
  • Experience in social or recreational programming in senior living communities or other senior setting.
  • A current state driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with applicable state Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and the Congregation of St. Joseph policy.

Pay: From $20.75 per hour
