Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) is Hiring a Business Services Intern - Policy Analyst State Examination System Near Washington, DC

The Conference of State Bank Supervisors offers a summer internship program for undergraduate, graduate, and law school students. The specific dates of the internship are agreed upon by the intern and the hiring manager. This is a paid internship opportunity. Undergraduate students will receive $22.00/hr. Postgraduate students will receive $27.00/hr.

Interns are assigned to a specific area of CSBS. The work is generally project based with the intern expected to deliver a final product at the end of the internship. All interns will receive exposure to all areas of CSBS.

As a cohort, CSBS interns will have an opportunity to collaborate on a team project.

This cohort group will brainstorm and provide a fresh perspective into how CSBS presents VIBE in our job descriptions and how we promote our values on our career page and external job postings. Additionally, we will ask the interns to create a VIBE decision-making checklist. This tool will help ensure we are living into our VIBE by aligning our decisions to our commitment to culture.

Business Services Internship - Policy Analyst State Examination System

The CSBS Business Services team develops policies and processes to further the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry (NMLS), a technology platform for regulatory agencies to administer financial services license applications, ongoing compliance requirements and supervision. An important part of NMLS is the State Examination System (SES), used by state agencies to supervise companies and to process consumer complaints. The summer intern's responsibilities will include working with CSBS staff and state regulators on the collection of information pertaining to revised Mortgage Exam Standards which are currently in review. The intern participating in this project will have the opportunity to work with CSBS staff and state regulators to achieve a final agreement on the standards and to then implement them in SES.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate or graduate education with a focus in business, public policy, accounting, economics, political science, or a related field.
  • A general interest in banking, or financial services is preferred.

  • Effective communicator, both orally and written. Candidate should be able to write clearly and effectively present ideas and to document activities; to communicate information in a succinct and organized manner; to read and interpret written information.
  • Research and analysis - able to understand and interpret data and organize the data.

  • Planning and organizing - able to manage and prioritize multiple, complex projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite.

Requirements

  • Due to the nature of CSBS's business in support of state financial services supervision, all CSBS employees have the potential of interacting with confidential information related to the supervision of financial services companies ("Confidential Supervisory Information"). As a result, in addition to general business conflicts of interest, all CSBS employees are expected to disclose conflicts of interest in financial services companies on at least an annual basis and to proactively avoid such conflicts.
  • Protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of CSBS information and information systems in accordance with CSBS policies and procedures.
