TITLE: Wildlife Biologist II
LOCATION: Natural Resources Department
DFWRC – Tribal Wildlife Management Program
SALARY: $30.22 to $34.73 per hour
CLOSING DATE: Thursday, September 21st, 2023 at 5:30 p.m.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
This is not a Testing Designated Position (TDP) within the definition of the CSKT Drug Testing policy. The
successful applicant, if not already employed by the Tribes must pass a pre-hire drug test and
serve a mandatory six (6) month probationary period.
The Wildlife Biologist II is a permanent, full-time professional management position responsible for
conducting field inventories of wildlife and habitat resources, developing, managing and analyzing large
databases, planning and overseeing wildlife research and wildlife habitat restoration projects, and
formulating wildlife habitat management prescriptions for wetland and riparian habitat mitigation activities.
This position is within the Natural Resources Department's (NRD) Division of Fish, Wildlife, Recreation and
Conservation’s (DFWRC) Wildlife Management Program and reports directly to the Mitigation Biologist and
Wildlife Program Manager.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
➢ Design methodologies, including plans for use in collecting data utilized in assessing the success of
habitat restoration projects, habitat inventory and monitoring techniques and methodologies to
monitor habitat and wildlife population recovery.
➢ Inventories wildlife populations including grassland bird, forest bird and marsh bird species, small
mammals, furbearers, amphibians, reptiles and bats utilizing applicable ground or aerial survey
methods.
➢ Conduct assessments of wildlife habitats utilizing applicable wildlife management techniques to
determine vegetation species composition, ground cover, profile and other factors.
➢ Designs wildlife and wildlife habitat mitigation projects for specific sites and develops management
plans for ongoing wildlife habitat management on those sites. Monitors use of habitats by wildlife.
➢ Conducts field project reconnaissance and compiles Biological Assessments and recommends
mitigation for adverse impacts upon wildlife and wildlife habitat.
➢ Represents the Tribal Wildlife Management Program in meetings and discussions with Federal,
State, County, other Agency personnel and the general public on wildlife and wildlife habitat related
issues.
➢ Develops, designs, and implements wetland and riparian mitigation projects related to US Highway
93 reconstruction.
➢ Provide technical assistance to Wildlife Management Program staff in field or office assignments, as
directed by the Wildlife Program Manager or designated supervisory personnel.
➢ Records data, constructs computer databases and conducts in-depth univariate and multivariate
statistical analyses of these data for evaluation of results and reports.
➢ Utilize maps, aerial photographs and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to locate specific locations in
the field.
➢ Utilizes Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to collect data, analyze habitats, prepare maps, and
plan habitat restoration and management plans.
➢ Compile technical research findings, annual monitoring reports and progress reports, and annual
work plans.
➢ Maintains concise daily records of field activities and observations.
➢ Conducts presentations and environmental education programs to various groups.
➢ Supervises activities of wildlife technicians or seasonal employees, as assigned by the Wildlife
Program Manager.
➢ Conducts other tasks, as assigned by the Wildlife Program Manager or other designated supervisory
personnel.

APPLICATION):
