The School of Arts and Sciences at Concordia University, Irvine, CA, invites applications for a full-time staff member in the Valerosos y Curiosos (Courage and Curiosity) federally funded grant (funding awaiting) beginning immediately. The individual should demonstrate excellence in working with underrepresented students and families within the natural and applied sciences and mathematics fields, providing academic coaching and assisting in the labs and undergraduate research components of the program. The staff member will lead lab sections in the appropriate department, as well as work with the Director to oversee the federally funded grant for the 5 year duration at a minimum. CUI seeks an individual who values a Christian educational approach to higher learning and who will promote the mission, purpose, and objectives of the university, is committed to the Lutheran liberal arts tradition and desires to engage with first generation and diverse families and students.. Qualifications: MS in one of the fields above (biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, computer science, biochemistry, or mathematics) is preferred but BS with extensive work within multicultural settings and initiatives may be acceptable. Fluency in speaking and reading in Spanish is required.
Appointment: The position is a full-time position that will require being on the Irvine campus and comes with full rights as a full-time staff member. The STEM Coach and lab assistant will be expected to teach lab courses and work with undergraduate research in the academic programs, assist with the grant program in connection to student success, recruitment and work in the summer bridge and student mentor program leadership.. They will be expected to participate in events related to the academic life of the University on campus, including convocations and requirements of full-time staff with respect to service to the Institution and appropriate meetings and budget relationships.
