Concordia University Irvine is Hiring a Coordinator of Field Experience-MSN-FNP Near Irvine, CA

Role: The Coordinator of Field Experience in the Department of Nursing provides leadership in implementing and managing relationships with both current and future clinical partners for the MSN-FNP Program. The Coordinator is responsible for building clinical partnerships, identifying and generating new clinical agency opportunities, and managing the clinical partnerships and student placements to ensure that student learning and course objectives are being met.
Responsibilities:
  • Generate new affiliation agreements with clinical agencies.
  • Identify and initiate contact with potential clinical sites for all areas: Med/Surg, OB, Peds, Mental Health, Geriatrics, Preceptorships and Community.
  • Maintain appropriate existing clinical opportunities for all areas: Med/Surg, OB, Peds, Mental Health, Geriatrics, Preceptorships and Community.
  • Lead the development of current clinical affiliations to meet the current and future needs of clinical placement/preceptorship for the nursing programs.
  • Evaluate insurance and liability issues related to clinical agencies and provides appropriate documentation. 
  • Develop positive relationships with new clinical agencies and help to maintain current clinical agencies. This includes building and maintaining professional working relationships with hospital administrators, clinical directors, nurse educators as well as community setting leaders.
  • Maintain current list of approved clinical facilities and approved preceptors and maintain all appropriate contracts with clinical agencies.
  • Participate in networking activities to build relations with healthcare facilities and related professional associations such as orientation activities, community professional meetings, advisory meetings and/or recruitment/job fairs.
  • Strive to develop strategic enduring relationships with clinical agencies that lead to job opportunities for Concordia graduates.
  • Strive to increase brand recognition of Concordia by educating employers and community organizations. 
  • Administer and collect evaluation feedback from clinical agencies. Track and present summary of clinical evaluation data. Also track and report student/faculty clinical evaluation (effectiveness of clinical experience, clinical objectives being met, etc).
  • Monitor performance objectives of student placements to determine appropriateness of clinical placements/preceptorship in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
  • Maintain knowledge of program objectives, enrollment process, requirements and content offered within the nursing programs.
  • Assist in faculty recruiting efforts while in the clinical community.
  • Prepare all needed documents for clinical practicums each session. Submit all required paperwork to appropriate clinical facilities within the required time frames
  • Collaborate with Assistant Director of Nursing/Director of Nursing and student to determine clinical placement and schedule for nursing students for each session.
  • Provide current reports to Assistant Director/Director of Nursing on clinical placements approved and needed. Communicate placement issues immediately.
  • Maintain clinical clearance records on nursing students and clinical faculty. Submit records to clinical agencies as required. Maintain and update clinical management system including immunization tracker, background checks and drug screens.
  • Enter annual clinical agency requests into the appropriate Clinical Placement system. Communicate and provide documentation for agencies not utilizing this system.
  • Assist with program accreditation: assist with data collection, reporting and correspondence with agencies. File documentation appropriately. Assist with maintenance of records, files, and data needed for accreditation. 
  • Attend departmental meetings; provide program updates and assist to take, distribute and file minutes appropriately.
Position Requirements:
  • Have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree 
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in healthcare field is preferred
  • Possess excellent communication skills (interpersonal, public address, and written communication) 
  • Possess excellent organizational skills, be detail oriented, and be able to work unsupervised
  • Possess strong analytical abilities, leadership and management skills
  • Be a problem solver
