ConcertAI is Hiring a Senior Clinical Data Scientist Near Cambridge, MA

Company Overview

ConcertAI’s mission is to accelerate insights, advance research, and improve patient outcomes in oncology and across life sciences. ConcertAI’s leading real-world evidence, AI technology and software-as-a-service solutions support healthcare decision-making across clinical research & development through commercialization. Top biopharma sponsors, clinical research organizations, healthcare providers and institutions rely on ConcertAI’s evidence-generation and digital transformation capabilities to advance precision medicine and medical innovation.

Role Summary

ConcertAI is looking for a Senior Clinical Data Scientist, passionate and skilled in developing and translating data science solutions to optimize clinical trial designs and meet the company’s as well as client’s needs.

The role of this Senior Clinical Data Scientist (SCDS) is atypical. In addition to contributing to the data science codebase and developing AI solutions, you will bridge gaps across healthcare, data science, data engineering, and product domains in inner- and client-facing company functions through outstanding communication and leadership skills.

You will be responsible for data exploration, analysis, development, and implementation of machine learning methods. Critically, you will translate machine learning solutions to a non-technical audience, including but not limited to senior leadership, current customers, and potential customers, and in various venues such as company-wide presentations, written publications, and conferences.

You should have experience in data science with statistics, coding, and machine learning, as well as deep knowledge in public health and/or medicine, ideally in oncology.

You will principally work within the highly talented and diverse Data Science Services but will traverse across with business units, senior leadership, and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects that include data scientists and engineers to develop novel approaches and AI solutions to improve and accelerate clinical trial design by leveraging ConcertAI’s Real World Data (RWD) and technology.
  • Work directly with business stakeholders and the product team to identify opportunities for collaboration, develop specifications, and provide input on data and product roadmaps.
  • Work closely with the engineering team to provide AI solutions ready for integration into enterprise-grade software solutions.
  • Collaborate with junior as well as principal data scientists to develop and maintain a scalable data science codebase.
  • Communicate, interpret, and explain modeling results to internal and external stakeholders with diverse backgrounds.
  • Lead initiatives related to the ERACE (Engaging Research to Achieve Cancer Care Equity) program by engaging with academic, government, and business partners. Advance ConcertAI’s strategic goals by securing new funding (e.g., National Cancer Institute), promoting ConcertAI’s data and software capabilities for partners to invest and procure, and integrating proprietary clinical trial data from external partners with ConcertAI’s RWD.
  • Author abstracts and manuscripts for publications to showcase ConcertAI’s Real World Data (RWD) and data science capabilities.

Requirements

You should have a strong background in both data science and public health or medicine including:

  • A Ph.D. in a health-leaning quantitative field, such as public health, medicine, biostatistics, health economics, or bioinformatics.
  • Strong experience and knowledge in healthcare study design and research methodologies, such as RCTs, causal inference, retrospective and prospective study designs, quasi-experimental designs, survival analysis, and hypothesis testing.
  • 3 years of data science experience (statistics, data mining, machine learning), at least one of which is in the healthcare industry outside of academia. Data science or quantitative work conducted during your doctoral or post-doctoral studies can count towards the work experience.
  • Experience using Python data science stack: including Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, SciPy, and Scikit-Learn. Expert knowledge in working with and manipulating large data sets, using scientific tools (e.g., Python, SQL).
  • Experience in the life science/healthcare domain using Real-World Data (e.g., claims data, EMR data).
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Outstanding presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to clients and senior leadership.
  • Strong project management and technical leadership skills with an enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary and fast-paced environment.
