Job Summary:
This recruitment is seeking to fill the role of a Unit Manager in the Individual Permitting Unit, within the Groundwater Protection & Reuse Section. This Unit serves permitting functions and duties within the Aquifer Protection Program to support the issuance of permits to the Mining, Wastewater and Industrial facilities. The objective in reviewing these permit applications is to ensure that discharges from the facility prevent degradation of Arizona's vital water resources through the facilities operation and closure. In order to be successful in this role, the selected candidate must have strong leadership skills to effectively manage a strong technical team with expertise in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering and/or hydrogeology.
This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

Job Duties:
•Familiarity with Arizona Administrative Code, Statutory and other regulatory provisions, as applicable.
•Background in technical principles related to wastewater treatment, water reuse and/or mining
•Ability to identify and include stakeholders as necessary when guidance, policy or legal provisions change over time.
•Prioritization of team engagement through professional development, training, staff optimization and strategic planning.
•Discretion and good judgment with respect to contentious permitting actions with high public interest.
•Collaborative approaches to people management and stakeholder involvement.
•Skilled in public speaking, executive briefings and negotiation.
•Solution oriented thinker with proficiency in project management and problem solving.
Selective Preference(s):
•Bachelor's degree in hydrology; geology; civil/environmental engineering; environmental science; geological/mining engineering; sustainability; environmental law; or a closely related field
•Master's Degree (preferred in) hydrology; geology; civil or geotechnical engineering; environmental science; environmental law; or a closely related field
•5 years of experience in principles related to wastewater treatment, reuse and/or mining5 years of supervisory experience in relevant fields as mentioned.
