Description

Comunilife is looking for hard working Maintenance Specialists to work in a team environment at one of our locations throughout New York City. For more than 25 years, we have been a provider of supportive housing, for individuals with serious mental illness and/or chronic medical issues such as HIV/AIDS. Full time positions are eligible to participate in Comunilife's generous benefits package and paid time off benefits. The salary range for the position is between $17.00 to $18.20 per hour.

Bronx, Manhattan Queens and Brooklyn program locations

Responsibilities Include:

  • Monitor the Facility’s interior and exterior entrances for cleanliness (including snow removal and removal of other hazardous conditions).
  • Complete Work Orders assigned in an efficient and proficient manner.
  • Work in a pleasant and respectful manner with all clients.
  • Assist in fire safety and evacuation drills, procedures and training.
  • Alert the direct supervisor, Asst. Director, Director or designee, of any unusual occurrences or violation of rules and regulations (i.e., no smoking regulations).
  • Carry out cleaning duties as assigned to ensure the building reflects the standard of hygiene outlined and as directed by Comunilife management, including care of floors, bathrooms and public areas.
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs including, but not limited to:
    • Painting, patching and sheet rocking
    • Light plumbing including unclogging drains and basic plumbing skills
    • Light electrical (from the wall out) including replacing fixtures and lighting ballast
    • Lighting in general including bulb and switch plate replacement
    • Lock repair and replacement
    • Floor tile repair and installation including base
    • General carpentry including interior renovation, duct work and tasks as assigned
    • HVAC system cleaning, filter and belt changes

Qualifications


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:

  • Physical requirements: lift at least 50 lbs, and walk, stand, push or pull, climb stairs and ladders frequently, bend, carry goods including furniture, supplies and equipment and exert all other medium to heavy physical effort.
  • 2 or more years of maintenance experience (preferred)
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must understand verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
  • Driver's License is required with a clean record for some locations.
