Comunilife is Hiring an Assistant Director of Government Grants and Contracts Near New York, NY

Comunilife Inc. is in search of an Assistant Director of Government Grants and Contracts to join our Finance Team.The Assistant Director of Government Grants and Contracts is responsible for managing federal, New York State and New York City contracts; serving as a liaison with funding agencies regarding fiscal matters; and assisting the Director of Budgets and VP-Finance in the preparation of the annual budget. Requires working with the finance team and frequent interaction with executive staff, other administrators, and program managers.This position is eligible for Comunilife's generous benefits and paid time off package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement employer contributions after 2 years, tuition reimbursement and professional development opportunities.


Essential Duties:

  • Develops and maintains process to monitor and track contract mandates, deliverables and contract receivables.
  • Manages contract amendments, close-out budget modifications, and other required documentation for government contracts.
  • Develops contract tracking system and maintains historical records.
  • Monitors expenditures for each contract through the lifecycle of the contract, and with the approval of CFO and/or SVP for Programs and/or VP Finance, may make cost-sharing adjustments to reflect appropriate labor distribution or related cost-sharing expenses.
  • Maintains Comunilife’s Position Control to ensure that jobs and positions are consistent with funding contracts and budgets, to ensure that Finance and HR are in synch relative to position management, and to ensure that program managers are aware of and informed of additions, deletions and changes to positions in their programs.
  • Assists CFO and VP Finance in the preparation of annual operating budget.
  • Administration of contracting documents, including Vendex Questionnaire and other required documents.
  • Coordinates with Director of Budgets in developing contract budgets and budget justification.
  • Oversees preparation of monthly or quarterly vouchers to government funders, ensuring timely submission of all vouchers and related compliance reports.
  • Prepares variance analysis for quarterly budget meetings with senior management and program managers.
  • Coordinates with the APDs of Safe Haven I and II in the submission of CoC NOFA and CoC APR for the HUD Homeless Assistance Grants.
  • Assists CFO in establishing and maintaining government online procurement systems such as HHS Accelerator, HHS Passport, Grants Gateway, and Grants.gov.
  • Interprets grant policies and procedures to fiscal staff and program managers.
  • Assists with government contract audits and compliance as required.
  • Assists with annual year-end audit.
Education and Experience Requirement(s)
Applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree desirable. At least five (5) years experience in federal, New York State and New York City grants/contracts administration. Specific experience in contract management with NYC DHS, HUD, SAMHSA, NYS OMH, NYS-AIDS Institute, NYS-OTDA, NYC DOHMH or NYC HRA a must.
