• Facilities and Commercial Engineering group is seeking candidates joining our team as a Senior Designer/Project Manager. We are a diverse group with inhouse engineering and completing numerous projects throughout the year.
• We are looking for a self-motivated member who works hard, communicates well, is eager to learn and complies with standards, is a team player and ensures projects run smoothly.
• Facilities maintains and manages multiple buildings on and off the Columbia Generation Station campus, their mechanical, electrical systems, above ground and underground utilities which require design and engineering support. Designer plays crucial role to support renovation, remodel and modification of these systems by applying their designer and project management skills.

Principal Accountabilities

· Ensure projects run smoothly, coordinate with different engineering disciplines for input into design. As-build existing systems, plan and prepare construction documents, including layouts, sketches, and drawings involving a high degree of difficulty and complexity under the technical guidance and engineering leadership.

· Performs diverse tasks and leadership assignments primarily engaged in preparing and checking construction documents associated with the facilities project including mechanical, electrical systems. Ensures conformance with engineering direction, specifications, design criteria, and design standards in all work performed.

· Reviews design documents of peers to ensure that designs are technically complete and that all affected design data base documentation has been properly revised.

· Oversees and develops project schedules, budget, and scope of work, communicates with design team, stakeholders, and vendors.

· Establishes and maintains working interfaces with design teams in other disciplines and with other organizations to foster cooperation and team building, and to ensure that customer/supplier alignments are established and maintained.

· The level of responsibility is projects with budgets ranging from small project to more than $1,000,000. The purpose of this position is to achieve project objectives through focused planning, scheduling, and control of project activities.

Required Education and Experience

• Associate degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university and three years of highly technical design experience sufficient to provide design knowledge of mechanical and electrical system, structure, and construction documentation, design, and controlling standards and regulations. 8 years of design experience in commercial projects.

Preparation of construction documents in AutoCAD, minimum 8 years’ experience.

Desired Education and Experience

• Accredited degree in project management or BS in mechanical or electrical engineering or architecture, or related fields.
• Preparation of construction documents in AutoCAD, minimum 5 years’ experience.

Required abilities and skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability for writing in a clear and understandable manner.
• Strong problem-solving and leadership skills and understanding of the design process.
• Highly organized with superb attention to detail
• Creating designs using AutoCAD; create edit and modify detailed 2D and 3D drawings and designs using AutoCAD.
• Basic knowledge of the applicable building codes.
• Working knowledge of interfacing disciplines including facilities maintenance and operations, regulations and standards controlling design and documentation, task estimating, and scheduling techniques.
• Highly developed design ability to provide the foundation from which to direct and control the solution of the most complex design problems.

• Proficiency in various software systems: including, Sketch up or other 3d modeling software, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Adobe Professional, Excel, Outlook & Power point.

Salary: $70.00 - $85.00 per hour
