Position Summary:

The QA Test Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and compliance of the software solution with the client's functional and technical requirements. This role involves planning, leading, and executing tests to ensure systems meet the highest standards. The QA Test Manager collaborates closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand end-user requirements, roles, and activities. They will also collaborate with the solution integrator to comprehend application feature functionality and develop comprehensive test plans. This role includes managing and participating in the creation of complex test scenarios & data sets, conducting workflow analysis, and maintaining test assets such as scripts, results, and defects.

Quality Assurance and Test Management:

  • Plan, execute, and lead testing efforts to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and the end-user community to validate defined user roles.
  • Identify complex test data needed for workflows and perform analysis.
  • Create and maintain test artifacts, including test scripts, results, and defects.
  • Work with program SMEs and the Solution Integrator to understand application functionality.
  • Participate with Program teams during configuration recommendations and modifications.

Quality Assurance and SDLC:

  • Assist the Program QA and Test Lead in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Perform advanced requirements evaluation for "testability".
  • Attend to details for day-to-day scrum board activities and stand-up meetings.
  • Participate in Quality Phase Gate Reviews as directed by the BEST Program QA and Test Lead.
  • Provide guidance on SDLC tool usage and adhere to quality controls.
  • Communicate quality deficiencies early and identify process improvement recommendations.

Methodologies:

  • Broad knowledge of SDLC methodologies and application of hybrid approaches.

Automated Testing:

  • Hands-on experience with automated test tools.
  • Adhere to an automated testing approach for creating, executing, and maintaining automated testing scripts.

Integration and Data Conversion Testing:

  • Support testing process for interface integrations and end-to-end testing.
  • Review testing approaches, plans, and outcomes.

Team Management:

  • Report directly to the Program QA and Test Lead.
  • Participate in building a team of QA Testers.
  • Provide team management based on test complexity, expertise, and workload distribution.
  • Act as gatekeeper for changes made to Commonwealth test environments.

Specific Duties:

  • Participate in the development of program test plans.
  • Execute the Test Plan against the configured Program solution.
  • Mentor test team members during test execution.
  • Ensure test metrics are current for real-time reporting.
  • Report on testing and defect status throughout the project.
  • Champion cross-team collaboration and testing efficiencies.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in planning and implementing testing across similar-sized projects.
  • Proficiency in all phases of testing, including unit, system integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
  • Knowledge of SDLC methodologies, including Agile development.
  • Experience in developing and executing test plans and cases.
  • Proficiency in using SQL.
  • Experience with test automation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across multiple teams.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with cloud-based applications, particularly Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery modes.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science.
  • Five years' experience in managing software testing activities for complex software implementation programs in large-scale projects.
