Position Details
Under general supervision, perform a variety of liaison duties in the support and maintenance of a community relations and volunteer program at an assigned school site. Recruit, interview, train and place parent volunteers and members for classroom support, School Site Council, School Advisory Council, English Learners Advisory Board and other related organizations. Provide information and assistance to school families related to school programs and referrals to community health and social services resources. Interpret and translate in Spanish.
Essential Functions - Typical Duties
Perform a variety of liaison duties in the support and maintenance of a community relations and volunteer program at an assigned school site; communicate with parents, interest groups and individuals in a local school community.

Communicate with teachers, school administrators and others to identify related service needs; respond to inquiries and provide information concerning program services, requirements, policies and procedures.

Prepare, distribute, collect and process volunteer applications; interview and provide orientation and in-service training for volunteers; assemble, prepare and distribute forms, newsletters and other informational materials as required.

Train and place parent volunteers for classroom support, School Site Council, School Advisory Council, English Learners Advisory Board and other related organizations; assist in planning and organizing various Advisory Council meetings and elections.

Promote volunteer programs and services as directed; contact parents in person, by mail or by telephone to encourage parents to volunteer to assist in classroom and school activities and parent organizations; provide information and orientations to teachers, staff and the community concerning program objectives, policies and procedures.

Advise parents regarding regular student attendance; provides information concerning school rules and regulations, academic requirements and progress reports; communicate school concerns such as student performance, absenteeism, behavior, health issues to parents.

Research, assemble and provide parents with District, community and other reference resources; establish and maintain community resource contacts related to available community resources for use by parent groups and families.

Encouraging parent involvement in school activities, classes and councils; maintain a variety of records and files related to community resources and volunteers as assigned; prepare and distribute a variety of routine correspondence including awards, certificates, letters, booklets and other materials.

Monitor volunteer progress; assist volunteers with completing work as needed; confer with teachers, staff and others concerning volunteer progress.

Assist parents in communicating individual concerns in meetings with Principal or other staff.

Facilitate and support a variety of volunteer services and activities through arranging for facilities, coordinating projects and organizing special events.

Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years of experience working with schools, parents, community agencies, or related groups.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Valid California Class C driver's license.

Position requires use of personal vehicle and proof of insurance.
•Health and Welfare Plan for employees and eligible dependents. Plan includes District/Employee paid premium for health, dental, and vision.
•Paid Vacation: Vacation is prorated based on months worked per year and longevity with the District.
•Holidays: 16 days paid per fiscal year
