Ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Coding certification with AAPC or AHIMA is preferred but not required. In lieu of certification, a candidate must have at least 3 – 5 years of recent coding experience.
Strong knowledge of ICD 10 and CPT coding guidelines is required.
Strong attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, adaptability to changes, and ability to function with minimal direct supervision is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft office and basic office equipment is required.
Experience in behavioral coding/billing is preferred, but not required.
Full Revenue Cycle management experience is preferred, but not required.
Experience with Advanced MD practice management software is preferred but not required.
Ideal candidate will perform the following job duties:
Comply with all aspects of relevant laws, statutes, regulations and requirements applicable to Medicaid, Medicare, and HIPPA as well as any other state and federal laws and regulations as they apply.
Code evaluation services, create claims, transmit claims, and work claim rejections.
Post insurance payments and work claim denials.
Collect and post patient payments.
Verify patient benefits, calculate patient responsibility, and communicate benefits to patients.
Request authorizations for evaluation services and work authorization denials.
Work the AR for outstanding insurance and patient balances.
Answer billing phone calls from patients, insurance companies, and other internal departments.
Meet with management weekly to communicate work progress and any issues or payment delays.
