About the organization: Compass Family Services is a 100 year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco’s homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success.

About the team: Compass Family Resource Center (CFRC) offers a comprehensive set of trauma-informed services that support family well-being. Homeless and at-risk families can access immediate crisis support at our Drop-in Center and get connected with parenting education, support groups and classes, case management, housing search and workforce services and support.

Compensation: $78,000 - $84,000 annually

Schedule: Full time, Monday-Friday, primarily during standard business hours

Responsibilities: The Bilingual (Spanish speaking) Co-Program Director of Compass Family Resource Center (FRC) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functioning of the FRC and its programming including supervision of staff, program design and implementation, coordination of services with internal and external providers, as well as providing direct support to clients.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Ensure a warm, welcoming, supportive and organized Family Resource Center with clear information for clients and staff about services provided.
  • Implement and maintain systems that best support client flow, confidentiality, resource and referral, and staff engagement with families.
  • Manage and support drop-in staff including CFRC team members, COD (Counselor of the Day) and volunteers.
  • Supervise CFRC team members including co-facilitating weekly team meetings and weekly 1:1 supervisions with assigned team members: Intake Specialists, Navigation Specialists, and Receptionist/Office Manager.
  • Coordinate and lead efforts in hiring, training and professional development. Complete annual performance reviews, performance improvement plans when needed and ongoing support.
  • Support the continued growth and development of the FRC’s initiatives, including identifying opportunities for additional funding, designing and implementing new programs, and continuously striving to enhance the FRC’s work as an integral part of Compass’ mission.
  • Work collaboratively with CFRC Co-Director overseeing Parent Education and Case Management.
  • Participate in training and integration of strengths-based and evidence-based practices including 5 Protective Factors Framework and Motivational Interviewing into drop-in programming.
  • Collaborate with our Impact and Learning Team to ensure that outcomes and services are accurately reported and communicated in Compass’ database.
  • Represent the agency to the community, outside agencies, service provider groups, committees and funders.
  • Be available for crisis intervention/de-escalation support and take the lead on coordinating an appropriate intervention to ensure safety of clients and staff.
  • Maintain a small caseload of clients when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent Spanish required
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working as case manager or counselor with families experiencing homelessness, or other at-risk populations
  • Experience with successful program implementation and design
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills
  • Outstanding work habits: punctual, reliable, cooperative, team-oriented
  • Ability to assess and de-escalate potentially volatile situations
  • Deep commitment to and demonstrated success discussing, integrating, and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging throughout a complex and dynamic organization.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range: $78,000 - $84,000. Full time exempt.
  • Paid time off: just under 4 weeks of vacation your first year, just under 5 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, family leave.
  • Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children. We also provide long term disability and life insurance.
  • Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account; this vests during years 2-5.
