Position: Property Steward

Hours: On an average, 20 hours per week

Reports to: Property Commission, interfaces with office administrator and others

Overall Scope:

The Property Steward helps the CUCC congregation maintain the church and grounds. The work requires approximately 20 hours per week, with flexible hours on weekends and evenings.

General scope of duties includes routine cleaning, maintenance and repair of the building and grounds, and set up and preparation for building space use by CUCC groups and others. Assist in oversight when outside contractors are required. Must be able to work independently, recognizing and completing routine maintenance and repairs as needs arise. Must be willing to communicate frequently with church administrative staff and Property Commission members. The Steward is expected to attend once-monthly meetings of the Property Commission (usually 4th Thursday of the month.)

Responsibilities break down into three primary responsibilities described below:

Perform weekly janitorial duties to clean up from church Services or other activities, and prepare the church space for upcoming events. P

Oversee the cleaning contractor (e.g., carpet, kitchen floor clean/wax) and communicate with them to ensure the work is done according to agreements. Usually once or twice per year.

Provide additional cleaning as needed during the week and ensure cleaning supplies are stocked. Coordinate with the office secretary on preparation indoor space for use by church and outside groups (e.g., tables/chair setup, storage).

: Maintain church grounds including lawn mowing and trimming, lawn irrigation maintenance, flower bed maintenance, general cleanup as needed. Oversee snow-removal contractor in winter.

Lawn mowed once per week on Friday or Saturday.

Flower beds kept free of weeds.

Grounds cleanup after site functions, and/or clear debris (e.g., after storm events).

Irrigation system maintenance and repair.

Direct and oversee snow removal contractor during winter months.

: Routine and minor repairs and maintenance, and

Minor plumbing/electrical (changing light bulbs and troubleshooting)

Small paint tasks and touch-up.

Hardware adjustment and repair.

Light carpentry.

Communication with CUCC property commission when major maintenance needs or repairs are identified.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.59 - $24.80 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
