CSI understands clients and staff have been impacted by trauma. CSI is becoming a trauma-informed organization by hiring individuals with existing experience in trauma-informed practices as well as supporting ongoing staff development with trauma-informed practices. This will include learning to recognize symptoms of trauma and how to respond, through training starting at orientation and throughout their career at CSI. CSI is committed to systematically evaluating the integration of the trauma-informed values of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment at all levels of the organization's policies, procedures, and structures to guard against the possibility of re-traumatization.
Program OverviewCommunity Solutions, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and passionate Substance Counselor to join our team at our Day Reporting Center (DRC) located in Santa Barbara, CA. Our Day Reporting Centers in Santa Barbara and Santa Maria, CA provide a community-based alternative to incarceration for clients on parole. CSI uses a curricula-driven, evidence-based model designed to assess the needs of each client to reduce individual risk factors. Participants work closely with case managers and employment specialists to develop individual goals and make positive changes in their lives.
Position Overview
  • Assess all new intakes to determine presence and extent of Substance Abuse history.
  • Recommend substance abuse treatment plan goals to case managers or probation officers that realistically address the needs of the substance abuse client population including broad based community support.
  • Provide and document weekly individual counseling for assigned caseload.
  • Provide educational information and referrals to outside agencies for families/significant others of substance abuse population.
  • Conduct support group meetings for assigned population on substance abuse issues and document those sessions.
  • Provide individual and group counseling, and educational services to all Agency clients.
  • Complete client related documentation and maintain client files and statistics.
  • Maintain and disseminate listings of AA, NA, CA or ACOA area meetings to clients and significant others.
  • Complete monthly progress reports and closing summaries of assigned caseload.
Hourly Rate: $29.09 Schedule : M/F 9am-5pm & T/W/Thu 12pm-8pm
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with three (3) years’ experience
  • Substance abuse treatment experience beyond two years may be substituted for educational requirements.
  • Good written and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of job development and employment resources in the area a plus.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a car is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Substance Abuse Certification must be obtained within six months of employment.

  • Two (2) weeks’ vacation accrued within the first year, bumped to three (3) weeks accrual after 1 year of service.
