You may be asking yourself, what exactly does a DSP do? A DSP supports adults who have developmental or intellectual disabilities to live their very best lives. Examples of some of the supports provided are; laundry or cooking meals, attending events in the community, and shopping.

What will you do as a DSP? The goal is to help the people you support to live dignified lives with as much independence as possible. Among other things, you will:

• Join and help people you support while they shop for groceries, clothes, or run errands.
• Attend community events and special celebrations like birthday parties.
• Give medications and other treatments, and complete required documentation.
• Help people you support to prepare meals, clean, eat, take care of personal hygiene, and get around at home and outside.

Minimum qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age
• High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required
• Acceptable driving record and valid driver’s license preferred
• Acceptable background check
