TITLE: Food Service Aide
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Site Manager
SUMMARY STATEMENT OF PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Responsible for receiving, storing, preparing and properly serving the meals in correct portions and cleaning of the food preparation and food service area.
20 hours per week $16.50/hr
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Accepts food and supply deliveries and confirms correct item receipts.
2. Stores food correctly -- dry, refrigerated and frozen.
3. Takes and records temperatures of hot and cold food items, ensuring food safety
4. Prepares hot and cold foods on day of service.
5. Packages Home Delivered Meals for daily delivery
6. Sets up and runs serving area for smooth flowing client service.
7. Works with and assists in supervising volunteer kitchen assistants helping with food preparation, Home Delivered Meal packaging, and food service.
8. Cleans equipment and utensils used in food preparation, all food preparation surfaces and all food service areas.
9. Cleans dining room as assigned.
10. Other duties as assigned.
11. Creates daily route sheets and communicates changes to drivers
12. Enters reporting information on the computer as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have knowledge of food preparation and serving principles. Must have knowledge of food service equipment and correct food portioning. Must know how to handle food in a safe and sanitary manner, and work in a neat and clean manner. Must be able to work well with seniors and volunteers. Must be able to follow verbal instructions with little supervision.
WORKING CONDITIONS: At nutrition sites, exposure to cleaning and/or chemical solutions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Must be able to lift/push 50 lbs.
2. Must be able to walk.
3. Must be able to carry, bend and reach.
4. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability in order to cope with the physical, mental and emotional stress of the position.
TRAVEL: Some travel may be required. A car may be required, with valid Illinois driver's license and proof of state-mandated insurance.

The Community Nutrition Network and Senior Services Association "CNNSSA" is a non profit organization supported by the Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois, which provides meals and resources to older adults and persons with disabilities and assists them in leading active and healthy lives. The Community Nutrition Network & Senior Services Association became a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization in 2000. In order to remain in full operation and be able to expand services to meet the growing need, the Meals on Wheels Foundation (MOWF) was created in 2001 as the fundraising, communi...ty outreach, and public awareness arm of Community Nutrition Network & Senior Services Association. In 2005, Community Nutrition Network & Senior Services Association was awarded contracts to begin serving older adults in Grundy and Kendall Counties as well as in suburban Cook County. Community Nutrition Network & Senior Services Association is now one of the largest older adult meal providers in the nation. In 2015-2016, Community Nutrition Network & Senior Services Association served more than 363,000 meals to over 4,400 older adults in Northeastern Illinois. Throughout these three counties, where service is provided, there are 11 Group-Dining sites, and 9 meal distribution hubs for the Home-Delivery program.
