Organization: Community National Bank was founded in 1984 by a group of individuals in Nemaha County, Kansas with diverse local ownership with decisions made on a local level.

Position mission: This position will support the bank’s strategic goals while managing all aspects of credit risk including the design, execution, and communication of policy, approval process, administration, and portfolio analysis. The Controller will analyze financial records to improve budgeting or planning and improve efficiency. This position will conduct financial or regulatory audits, calculate financial data, and monitor organizational compliance with regulations.

Major Duties:

• Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
• Delegate authority for the receipt, disbursement, banking, protection, and custody of funds, securities, and financial instruments.
• Develop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and external accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities.
• Monitor financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
• Receive, record, and authorize requests for disbursements in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities, such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinate and direct the financial planning, budgeting, procurement, or investment activities of all or part of an organization.
• Receive cash and checks and make deposits.
• Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing personnel actions, such as promotions and dismissals.
• Analyze the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed.
• Conduct or coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and statutes.
• Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
• Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
• Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
• Lead staff training and development in budgeting and financial management areas.
• Prepare and file annual tax returns or prepare financial information so that outside accountants can complete tax returns.
• Supervise employees performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and budgeting duties.
• Perform tax planning work.
• Compute, withhold, and account for all payroll deductions.
• Handle all aspects of employee insurance, benefits, and casualty programs, including monitoring changes in health insurance regulations and creating budgets for benefits and worker's compensation.
• Determine depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advise management on actions regarding the purchase, lease, or disposal of such items.

• Recommend policies and procedures as they relate to area of responsibility.
• Timely responses to inquiries for information to customers, staff, and vendors
• Answer telephone calls and provide a prompt response.
• Follow CNB’s policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Master’s degree, CPA or equivalent work experience

· Minimum of five years of relevant work experience preferred

· Demonstrates the ability to understand computer systems.

· Possesses a high degree of interpersonal and organizational skills.

· Possesses the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

· Possesses the ability to supervise and direct the work activity of others.

· High degree of integrity and trustworthiness

· Ability to manage people and productivity.

· Strong drive to achieve desired results

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described are representative to those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand and sit for extended lengths of time, read computer screens, talk on the phone, unpack and move supplies up to fifty (50) pounds, reach, kneel, bend, climb and balance. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the work environment is primarily a professional, deadline driven environment with interaction of internal team members and external customers. Noise level in the work environment can be loud.
