Compensation

Salary Range: $44.00 - $44.00 / hour

The pay range above represents the lowest possible rate for the position and the highest possible rate. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range. Pay for PRN positions is calculated differently than Full-Time, Regular Part-Time, and Part-Time positions. PRN Rates depend on the position and other factors, including years of experience, or shift commitment according to the department policy. PRN differential is added in certain positions.

Responsibilities

Nurse Residency Program (Med Surg, Oncology, Telemetry)

Community Memorial Healthcare’s Nurse Residency Program is designed for the new-graduate Registered Nurse (RN) starting a career in the adult acute care environment. The goal is to help you build a solid foundation for your nursing career and refine your clinical judgement and leadership skills as you navigate the transition from student nurse to acute care professional nurse. Our comprehensive program consists of a series of structured learning and clinical experiences. The curriculum incorporates adult learning methodologies, simulation, and reflective practice. The interprofessional training opportunities and personalized assistance offered during this program will guide you for many years to come.

Participants in our program work in a direct care position in the acute care setting at Community Memorial Hospital – Ventura. This is a full-time benefited position; the program is a 12-month commitment, plus one additional year of work upon completion. The 16-week preceptorship portion of the program is divided into the four areas listed below and facilitated by content experts. Nurse Residents will have team training opportunities with Graduate Medical Education (GME), and work with ancillary departments to reinforce collaborative practice. The program continues with monthly seminars (Nursing Seminars/Grand Rounds) ending at graduation.

Nurse Residency Program Requirements

  • Willingness to commit to the Nurse Residency Program plus one additional year upon completion
  • Graduated from an ADN or BSN program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) by June 01, 2023
  • Must not have had any paid RN work experience prior to the start of the program
  • Must have American Heart Association BLS by the beginning of the program
  • Must have a current California RN license by August 05, 2023 (candidates may apply before licensure)

Applications

Applications are accepted each year. Top candidates are invited to a panel interview. Application periods usually open early summer and interviews take place mid-summer. Onboarding takes approximately six weeks. The program usually begins early Fall.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current CA RN License
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Current ACLS Certification (ICU, L&D, Telemetry)
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification within the first 3 months (L&D, NICU)
  • Intermediate or Advanced Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) class within 6 months hire (L&D)
  • Successful completion of Stroke/Sepsis Education competency within 6 months of hire

Preferred:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Knowledge of Det Norske Veritas (DNV)
