Position Summary:
Under the direction of the System Director, Pre-Admission Testing, the RN PAT Manager coordinates the operations and staff at the Community Pre-Admission Testing Clinics. The RN PAT Manager is also responsible for facilitating the flow of patients through the pre-operative testing process. The primary function of this job is to gather information, perform various pre-operative tests and ensure that patients are escorted through the diagnostic testing process in an efficient, complete and timely manner that models the customer service policy of the hospital. Always works as a team member within the entire facility. The RN PAT Manager must demonstrate the ability to adjust to changing workflow assignments in a fast paced work unit and work as the lead team member, performing other duties as assigned.
II. Essential Functions:
Ø Uses strong communication and organizational skills to manage the PAT team
Ø Initiates team member assignments and daily staffing schedule as well as maintain department workflow efficiency.
Ø Demonstrates leadership by assisting with staff evaluations and corrective action as needed/assigned.
Ø Consistently demonstrates premier customer service and communication skills with all internal and external customers/contacts to ensure the patient and their family members have the best hospital encounter possible
Ø Provides pre-op testing, including COVID testing, of surgical patients in Outpatient Pre-Admission Testing Department according to policy/procedure and care standards.
Ø Maintains knowledge of medications, equipment, expected patient outcomes and anticipated complications.
Ø Coordinates patient care with the multidisciplinary team, prioritizing the needs of the patient and the department.
Ø Demonstrates the ability to interpret and implement physician orders.
Ø Demonstrates the ability to perform various skills used in pre-op testing, i.e. phlebotomy, acquisition of EKGs, vital signs and other as indicated on physician orders.
Ø Satisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties.
Ø Assures quality services through participating in quality assurance & performance improvement projects.
