Community Integration Floating Respite Caregiver

Community Horizons is assisting a Wisconsin Rapids family in finding the right person to work with their developmentally disabled nonverbal adult daughter in their Wisconsin Rapids home and community. The family is seeking a dependable caregiver with some experience working with developmentally disabled individuals who can be trained to provide respite services on the weekends but also pick up shifts during the week as needed to cover vacations, sickness, etc.

If you have a flexible schedule and enjoy going into the community to shop, go for walks, or just sightseeing, this position is for you. Consider sharing your time with someone else who likes to do the same.

Wage: $16.00 per hour

Hours: Respite hours on the weekends as needed by family and flexible to provide pick-up shifts during the week to assist with coverage due to vacations, illness, etc. The usual hours during the week are from 10 am – 6 pm.

Tasks include but are not limited to:

• Personal care as needed
• Minor food prep
• Coordinating appropriate activities
• Outings to town, community center, or outdoor walks

Ideal Candidates will possess:

• A Calm, Caring, Patient, Positive and Motivated Attitude
• Understanding, Compassionate,
• Someone who can just “Go With The Flow”
• Developmentally disabled/healthcare background
• Experience working with nonverbal individuals
• Familiarity with those who experience anxiety
• Have a valid driver's license/reliable transportation.
• Able to pass Wisconsin background check.

Community Horizons offers support for individuals enrolled in self-directed programs through Managed Care Organizations or IRIS (Include, Respect, I Self-Direct) throughout Wisconsin. Self-direction gives program participants the choice over who provides services and how they receive them. Community Horizons is not the employer on record, members make all hiring decisions with the involvement of a third-party fiscal agent responsible for payroll.
