Job Description

Sterilization Processing Technician (SPD Tech) - Full Time position in the Sterile Processing Department at Lutheran Health Network - Lutheran Hospital

* Full time, 40 hours/week; Hours: 6pm-2:30am M-F

* Holiday rotation required

* Previous Sterile Processing experience preferred

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Sterile Processing, and working technical leadership of an assigned team leader, cleans, sterilizes, assembles, packages, labels and distributes equipment and supplies utilized in patient care procedures.

Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications

Registration/Certification/Licensure: IAHCSMM certification preferred.

Experience: No specific experience is required.

Education: Successful completion of a high school education or a minimum of three years' experience in an SPD or Central Supply area which involved the sterile cleaning and decontamination of equipment and supplies in a health care environment.

Job Knowledge & Skills

Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.

Demonstrates a basic understanding of patient supply processing, set-up and distribution.

Requires basic analytical and organizational skills to assemble, clean, and sterilize patient care supply, instrument sets, procedure trays, specialty carts and surgery tables to meet particular unit and physician needs and follow up as needed to address related concerns.

Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with all internal and external unit customers, as needed, consistent with hospital/departmental customer service standards.
