JOB TITLE: Recovery Support Specialist I

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time, 40 hours/wk

SCHEDULED HOURS: Monday-Friday, 11:00am-7:30pm

PROGRAM/LOCATION: Roots to Recovery, Willimantic CT

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: ROOTS TO RECOVERY

A Holistic Approach to Substance Use Treatment (R2R) is an intermediate, 24/7 residential treatment for men in need of a structured environment to continue building upon their recovery skills. R2R is located in Willimantic. There are 14 beds and it is a 90 day maximum intermediate (3.5) residential substance abuse treatment program. Clients are referred from intensive treatment programs, emergency room staff and/or detox programs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets and assists visitors and clients utilizing a recovery centered approach.
  • Maintains office in a neat and organized manner, completes filing, faxing and copying requests as needed.
  • Assisting with meeting the client’s needs during admissions and or discharges from the programs
  • Must have knowledge of Recovery resources in communities to facilitate resources to individuals upon leaving the program
  • Effectively utilizes appropriate communication methods/tools to transfer information to other staff.
  • Completes safety related checks including: unit observation, toxicology screens, person and room searches, and perimeter checks as assigned or as needed.
  • Facilitate peer groups such as: WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan); DRA (Dual Recovery Anonymous), IMR (Wellness Management and Recovery), integrating wellness and recovery principles.
  • Provides individual recovery coaching to all clients in the SUD programs during their treatment episode to promote their engagement and retention.
  • Participates in staff meetings, supervision, trainings, and other meetings as assigned.
  • Additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School diploma or GED. Current Recovery Support Specialist Certification from Advocacy Unlimited or Hartford Healthcare or Recovery Coach Certification from CCAR. If no current certification -Willingness to obtain certification within 2 months of hire is required.

Experience: Experience in Human Services preferred with responsible work history. Previous experience in an office or customer service setting preferred. Self-identified person in recovery (substance use or co-occurring disorder) who has maintained a minimum of 2 years of sobriety.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Valid driver’s license required. CPR and First-Aid certification within 6 months of hire.

Training: Basic computer skills required

          COMPENSATION*:

          $18.38/hour min.-$27.57/hour max., dependent upon experience.

          • Actual rates are determined at the time of offer and are based on relevant experience, as well as adherence to our internal equity policy. Many of our positions offer program/location differentials and/or sign-on incentives. (Please note, for part-time positions this range would be pro-rated based on hours worked)
