Community Health and Wellness of Greater... is Hiring an Associate Medical Director Near Torrington, CT

Position Summary:
The Associate Medical Director plays an important role in the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered, and community-based comprehensive primary care. They are responsible for overseeing the quality of clinical services while providing clinical and administrative leadership for medical providers at assigned locations. The Associate Medical Director will support the continuous improvement of clinical operations, provider workflow, patient satisfaction and financial performance and acts as the primary leader in the absence of the Medical Director. This position includes direct patient care responsibilities.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Works with the Medical Director to ensure the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Leading a team of providers in provision of high quality health care.
  • As a key member of the quality improvement team, ensures access to care, improves clinical quality, decreases clinical risk, implements improvement initiatives and innovations including participating to meet Accountable Care metrics.
  • Serves as a leader and mentor for providers of the health center.
  • Consults with medical center staff, peers and supervisors on a wide variety of patient care issues and functions as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
  • Supervises, and evaluates the performance and productivity of clinical providers including APRNs, PAs, Family Medicine Providers, and Pediatricians.
Provides input to budget development and is fiscally responsible
  • Maintains a panel of patients- position is 60% patient care, 40% admin time.
  • Completes all clinical charting and documentation as required
  • Stays current with evidence based practice and evaluates new treatments and medical innovations.
  • Works collaboratively throughout the organization to ensure the adoption of standards and policies for all functional aspects of clinical services that result in patient care improvements.
  • Creates functional strategies, objectives, and oversight for new programs (i.e. Chronic Care Management, Accountable Care Organization).
  • Supports the functional infrastructure of clinical quality programs including Uniform Data Systems (UDS), PCMH, etc.
  • Assures quality of clinical services is maintained (peer review)
  • Participates in internal and external committees and management team meetings.
  • Participates in continuing medical educational and professional development opportunities reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Adheres to professional standards, practice policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings
  • May be assigned to the N. Canaan and Winsted locations and must be able and willing to travel between centers.
  • Assists with audits of medical staff for compliance with policies and procedures and with regulatory and accreditation requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
Additional General Requirements: Professional positive attitude, understanding of customer service principles, trustworthiness, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
Education: MD from an accredited school. Federal and State controlled substance licensure.
Experience: At least 5 years of medical practice experience with 2 years of progressive management experience in health care
Language Skills: Must speak, write, and read English proficiently. Spanish preferred but not required.
Licensure/Certification Required: Board certified and licensed to work in Connecticut.
