Community Health and Wellness of Greater Torrington, Inc. is Hiring a Dental Scheduler - Patient Access Near Torrington, CT

Position Summary:
The Dental Scheduler will share our commitment to excellence and will have a customer service approach to scheduling appointments, managing dental insurance benefits, and coordinating treatment plans. He or she will be organized, efficient, and have excellent communication skills. The Dental Scheduler will be responsible for demonstrating a positive interaction with patients while scheduling appointments, verifying insurance benefits, and coordinating treatment plans with the dental team. The Dental Scheduler will ensure a positive working relationship with the Patient Access team and will work collaboratively to solve scheduling issues.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Communicating with other staff members such as dentists, hygienists, and insurance verifiers and Dental Financial Assistance Planner to make sure all details of appointments are handled appropriately.
  • Takes a proactive approach prior to scheduling to ensure financial costs to both the patient and organization are appropriately Addressed prior to scheduling the appointment.
  • Discuss treatment plans, cost of care, payment options, and other details of the appointment with Dentist, Dental Director, Insurance Verifier, Lead Dental Assistant, Dental Financial Assistance Coordinator.
  • Explaining procedures to patients and answering any questions they may have regarding their dental care appointments.
  • Scheduling patient appointments within determined parameters.
  • May assist in following up with patients after their appointment to ensure satisfaction with services and answer any questions, in collaboration with the dentists, about next steps in treatment
  • Coordinating patient intake procedures such as communicating concerns about collecting payment, and ensuring that all forms are filled out completely and accurately
  • Maintaining patient records by updating them with new information such as insurance details or scheduling changes
  • Handling administrative tasks such as answering phones, typing letters, filing paperwork, and scheduling appointments
  • Scheduling dental referrals at the request of the treating Dentist.
  • In collaboration with the Director, oversees the dental receptionists to ensure that daily work flow is conducive to an efficient and effective work environment. 
  • Ensure production goals are met by working with the dental receptionists to schedule patients appropriately and ensure that dental provider schedules are optimized to provide quality patient care. Responsible to follow through with appropriate staff to identify and fill scheduling gaps, prior to finalizing schedule.
  • Ensure that patient lab cases are available prior to patient’s scheduled appointment.
  • In collaboration with the Director, monitors and adjusts clinic practices to ensure compliance with CT State Board of Dentistry requirements.
  • Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent / emergent situations or requests for services per protocols.
  • Plans and communicates new assignments and/or schedule changes to patients and appropriate staff.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with providers, staff and management.
  • Documents work processes as required.
  • Other duties as assigned
Additional General Requirements: Professional positive attitude, understanding of customer service principals, trustworthiness and excellent interpersonal skills.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
Education: HS Diploma
Experience: 2 years experience preferred
