Clinical Team Lead Educator, Variable day shifts, Surgery General

Community Healthcare System is hiring a Clinical Team Lead Educator for the OR to work Days at Community Hospital in Munster, IN.

The Surgery Department provides care to a wide variety of patients, from the neonate to the critically ill elderly adult, inpatients and outpatients. Our comprehensive surgical care includes, but is not limited to, the following specialties: general surgery, OB/GYN, orthopedic, open heart, cardiovascular, cardiothoracic, neurosurgery, urology, ENT, Retina, and robotic.

Clinical Team Lead Educator Roles & Responsibilities:

• Help support and develop new initiatives in the Intra-operative area.
• In collaboration with Management, he/she will provide clinical and administrative support structure for surgery department.
• Engage the staff in quality improvement and guide in staff development and process change.
• Build cooperation and congruence between the surgery department and with those units working within all areas of the hospital.
• Support the current Perioperative programs by participating in committees and providing clinical input.

• Development and implementation of Departmental educational initiatives.
• Develops staff competencies and continuing educational activities in coordination of the leadership team.
• Meet with orientees to assess progress and aides in employee evaluations.
• Develop education plans for individuals who are having work competency issues.
• Responsible for annual competency development and completion
• Interacts with physicians on an on-going basis to assess any educational needs of the staff.
• Coordinate with the managers and other clinical team leaders on new devices or equipment that need an educational focus or plan.
• Assignment of BLS/ACLS to assure unit compliance
• Responsible for the oversight and orientation of new hires

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a current license by Indiana State Board of Nursing.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred in a healthcare related field such as; Nursing, Applied Health or Health Sciences.
• 2-4 years’ experience required in a Charge or Lead role within surgical services.
• MS Office Proficient.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR) required.
• Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
