Produce Quality Education Coordinator

15-20 Hours/Week; 300 hours total

Service Location: 3003 S Country Club Road, Tucson, AZ

April - May 2024

Organizational Purpose and Background:
The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona responds to the root causes of hunger and seeks to restore dignity, health, opportunity and hope to people living in poverty. Our mission is to change lives in the communities we serve by feeding the hungry today, and building a healthy, hunger-free tomorrow.

The Community Food Bank needs support in rolling out our Produce Quality Assurance Program (PQAP) to our partnering agencies. Members will invite partner agencies to participate in our program, disseminate training material, coordinate trainings, and keep records of who has received training.


Project Focus Areas and Activities:

  • Engage in outreach with partner agencies to offer PQAP Training:

The member will engage in weekly outreach and communication efforts with partner agencies to coordinate and schedule PQAP Training and distribution of educational materials.

Facilitate training on PQAP practices:

  • Member will coordinate training – including coordination of technology for low-tech or no-tech partners – to have PQAP training. This will involve going to sites across southern Arizona, or directly training partner staff or volunteers on CFB’s produce quality programming.

Maintaining partner relationships:

  • Member will document feedback and questions from partners to relay to PCI staff; explore agency needs around produce quality education; and potentially participate in distribution shifts with that agency.

Track which sites have completed training:

  • Record which partners have completed PQAP training and collaborate with Learning & Development team members for reporting training.

Requirements and Benefits:

Schedule Requirements:

  • Member is needed 15 hours per week
  • Flexible, contingent on staff schedule and availability/needs of partner agencies.

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • 17 years or older, no upper age limit. All ages are welcome and encouraged to apply.
  • Interest in food systems, produce supply chains, and nonprofit organizations.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred; English required).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to agencies across Arizona (1-3 hours of driving each way).
  • Detail and solution-oriented.
  • Enjoys and thrives in work environments that are fast-paced and working with others.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Calendar, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Internet-basedcommunications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting in a consistent, energetic, positive manner.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and work well in a variety of situations.
  • Effective problem-solving skills including situational and technological.
  • Ability and desire to work with diverse community members.
  • Friendly and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Access to reliable transportation.

AmeriCorps State Member Benefits:

  • $3,529.41 Stipend.
  • $1,565 Segal Education Award upon successful completion of service hours.
  • Certificate in Civic Leadership and Service through Prescott College.
