Community First School is Hiring an Infant/Toddler Teacher Aide Near Sunnyvale, CA

Join our CFS Family!

A teacher is responsible for implementing the Community First School program philosophy, which includes the Play Based Curriculum, and Developmentally Appropriate Practice. They are required to abide all company policies, procedures including all licensing regulations for Title 22. They are responsible for meeting the needs of all present children and providing supervision at all time. Each teacher shall visually observe teacher aides under his/her supervision whenever the teacher aid is working with children.

Aide / Floater Teacher:

All teacher aides and floater teachers are required to lift up to 50 pounds.

This person is to report to immediate supervisor (director of the program) daily on classroom happenings and inform them on needs within the classroom.

Minimum requirement:

1. Applicants must be fingerprinted and be cleared through FBI and DOJ

2. Applicants must be able to work a flexible work schedule between the hours of 7am to 6pm

3. Applicants must have good communication skills and be able to talk to parents, other staff and children.

4. Applicants must be able to manipulate, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

5. Must be willing to change diapers.

Customer Service

  • Communicates to the community and prospective parents positively about the program.
  • Approaches parents daily to discuss activities, questions and or concerns.
  • Responds to all families questions and requests and communicates to supervisor about it.
  • Includes all families into the program and solicits feedback about improvements.
  • Works collaboratively with each family to support each child’s individual development.
  • Actively builds trusting relationships with families in the program.

Program Curriculum and Environment:

  • Follows the Play Based Curriculum and Developmentally Appropriate Practice.
  • Follows a schedule that meets the needs of children, families and staff.
  • Is Responsible for planning, providing, and evaluating indoor and outdoor environments and activities.
  • Must plan curriculum for classroom a week prior to using.
  • Is responsible for encouraging play and exploration.
  • Understands and is able to articulate the company philosophy and approach.
  • Is knowledgeable about new research and developments in this field.
  • Listens to children, and responds to them by planning activities to meet individual needs of children in their group, based on observations and assessments.
  • Must use respect and sensitivity at all times when communicating with children.
  • Maintains child portfolios according to the Community First Program Guidelines (CFPG)
  • Communicates to Administrator when observing continuous behavioral issues with children.

Child Interactions

  • Interacts frequently with children showing appropriate affection, interest and respect.
  • Does not use physical punishment or other negative disciplinary methods that hurt, frighten, or humiliate children.
  • Helps children deal with anger, sadness, frustration and other difficult emotions by comforting, identifying, reflecting feelings and helping children use words to solve their problems.
  • Speaks with children at “their level” in a friendly, courteous and respectful manner.
  • Uses praise and encouragement to motivate and support children’s interests.

Family Interactions

  • Treats families with respect and works with parents as partners. Greets family members by name and includes and welcomes all families into all classroom activities to ensure that they are welcomed visitors at all times
  • Establishes a written and/or verbal communication system with families of each child to share daily events.
  • Relays pertinent information from families to other staff members when necessary.
  • Provides thorough orientation for all families.

Health and Safety

  • Utilizes appropriate food handling procedures when serving meals to children.
  • Utilizes appropriate procedures when diapering and assisting with toileting.
  • Maintains a standard of cleanliness within the classroom and school.
  • Follows and understands playground safety regulations.
  • Takes the appropriate action if equipment or facility is in need of repair and/or replacement.
  • Has a current CPR and first aid certificate through an approved program.
  • Communicates the emergency procedure information to families and other staff members.
  • Follows and complies with the medication administration policies.
  • Understands and follows child abuse reporting that is mandated by law.
  • Implements the emergency and disaster policy plan.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency /evacuation procedures and conducts drills monthly.
  • Reports /records all accidents and/or injuries to supervisor, parents and risk manager using approved school documentation procedures.
  • Understands that children must be supervised at all times.

Administration

  • Creates and organizes tasks, meet deadlines, and manages time to meet those goals.
  • Maintains confidential supervisory relationships with staff.
  • Informs Supervisor of equipment repairs and supplies needed for classroom.
  • Communicates effectively verbally and with concise written messages to families and other team members.
  • Helps support team members with training and feedback to encourage growth and learning.
  • Participates in center evaluation.
  • Will report directly to immediate supervisor on day to day happenings within their classroom.

Attendance / Punctuality

  • Provides proper notification for absences as outlined in the company employee handbook and per supervisor’s specifications.

  • Follows scheduled break times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.55 - $19.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
